In The Bachelorette Season 16 promo trailer, host Chris Harrison sits down with Crawley, and the two have a dramatic discussion. Crawley is crying. Meanwhile, Harrison tells the lead she blows up the season.

“The path we’re on right now, it doesn’t end well for anybody,” Harrison says in the preview. “You’ve just blown up The Bachelorette.”

Then in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Harrison confirmed the moment was “very emotional.” He also shared Crawley does things her own way this season. “Clare is always one … that wears her heart on her sleeve,” he said. “She is always emotional. She’s not a Bachelorette where I had to think, ‘Where is she right now emotionally? Where does she stand right now? Clare is ready to express herself.”

Then when speaking with E! News, Harrison hinted it all starts early in the season. “You always think you’ve seen it all and done it all — and I’ve been doing this for 19 years,” he said. “Inevitably, something happens that just blows your mind. This is an explosive season. It is a wild, explosive season. And it starts quickly with Clare.”

He continued, “She is emotional and wears her heart on her sleeve. I think she was just bound and determined to find the love of her life. And that’s what she was set to do.”

On Oct. 14, Crawley stopped by the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast with Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin. In the interview, Crawley was asked whether she was happy now, and the bachelorette gave a vague answer.

“I am very happy,” Crawley said. “But I was happy going into this, and I’m happy now.”

But when asked about blowing up The Bachelorette, Crawley delved deeper into her journey, revealing just how she “blew up” season 16.

“I’ll tell you exactly how I blew up The Bachelorette,” Crawley said. “I said what I wanted to say, I did what I wanted to do. I followed my heart, I followed my gut. Essentially, I didn’t let anybody tell me what to do because I know what’s best for myself.”

She continued, “That’s why I can literally look back and say I have no regrets. I wasn’t talked into… or even encouraged to do something that I didn’t want to do. And I think that goes far in the world of The Bachelor.”

Crawley also promised she wasn’t influenced by The Bachelorette producers when making decisions on the show. “Never once did I do something that I didn’t want to do,” she said. “And this was the season to do things my way.”

Once again, Crawley did not give any specifics about what she did on The Bachelorette. But whatever happens, Lindsay reminded fans of the importance of a “rule-breaker” on the ABC reality franchise.

“You realize, Clare, as a rule-breaker, whatever you did to blow this up, you are setting a precedent,” Lindsay told Crawley. “Now, people can point to you and say, ‘Well, Clare did this.’ And I love it. I love every single piece of it.”
