‘The Bachelorette’: Clare Crawley Reveals What She’s Looking For When Season 16 Begins Filming
The Bachelorette fans have been patiently waiting for Clare Crawley’s season to start filming since production shut down due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Now, it seems Crawley’s journey will begin soon — and she’s ready to dive right in. So what exactly is the 39-year-old hairdresser looking for on The Bachelorette Season 16? Crawley recently opened up about her ideal partner when speaking with Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast.
Clare Crawley shares why love hasn’t ‘stuck’ for her in the past
For those of you who may not know Crawley’s story on The Bachelor franchise, the Sacramento native first appeared on Juan Pablo Galavis’ season. The reality stars broke up in the finale and Crawley showed up in the first two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise. Then when things didn’t work out in the summer series, Crawley went on Bachelor Winter Games and got engaged to Benoit Beauséjour-Savard. But a few months after the Winter Games finale, the couple broke up.
In the June 23 episode of Bachelor Happy Hour, Crawley answered why love hasn’t “stuck” for her. And ultimately, it came down to two things — choosing the wrong partner and not being able to overcome her past.
“I picked a lot of wrong guys for me,” Crawley said. “But that is because I wasn’t in the space to fully understand self-love … There’s a lot I haven’t shared publicly. But there was a lot that I had gone through that really tore me down emotionally inside.”
Earlier in the podcast, Crawley shared she was in an abusive relationship ahead of Galavis’ season. Then the new bachelorette admitted her past made her feel “a lot of shame” and “embarrassment” because she didn’t want to be a victim. But now, Crawley no longer looks at her past as something shameful and sees it as her “superpower.”
“These are the things that have made me the woman I am today,” Crawley said. “Now I think I’m going to start attracting the right kind of men.”
Clare Crawley describes her ideal partner ahead of ‘The Bachelorette’
When speaking with Lindsay and Kufrin about overcoming her past, Crawley also shared what she’s looking for in a partner ahead of The Bachelorette.
“I want a man that lets down their guard,” Crawley said. “It wasn’t until recently that I allowed myself to let my guard down and say and feel like I want the man of my dreams to see the worst of me, to know the worst of me. I want them to know the hard, ugly, embarrassing, struggles of my life to appreciate the woman I am today.”
She added, “Anybody can love you for the easy, fun times, the smiles, and the laughs … It’s easy to be attracted to someone for that. But I want somebody to love me for all the hard stuff that I’ve been through.”
Later, Crawley also revealed she wants to find someone who isn’t afraid of “facing the fire” because it’s what she would do for her partner. She said:
I want someone who will walk toward it and stand tall and be strong right there next to me because I’d to that. I won’t ask anything of any man that I don’t bring to the table. I’m the one who steps up and does what needs to be done. And I want a man that does the same, who when things get hard, they don’t run away. I want a man who is strong enough to say, ‘I’m right here next to you.’
For now, Bachelor Nation fans can only hope Crawley finds her perfect match when The Bachelorette Season 16 resumes filming. But according to Variety, Warner Horizon Unscripted has confirmed the new season will start production in an isolated location very soon. So stay tuned. Crawley’s journey is just beginning.
