‘Batwoman’: Could The Joker Appear? There Are Clues In The Batcave – Exclusive
Batwoman (Ruby Rose) is keeping Gotham City safe every Sunday night on The CW. She’s taken over Batman’s Batcave and modified his suit with a wig so everyone knows she’s Batwoman now. Batwoman battles villains like Alice (Rachel Skarsten) and Crow Security on the streets of Gotham City. That keeps her plenty busy without The Joker to worry about.
Elizabeth Anweis plays her stepmother Catherine Hamilton-Kane. She’s married to Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) so most of Anweis’s scenes are in the Crow Security side of things. She snuck a peak in the Batcave though and revealed some clues she found about The Joker to Showbiz Cheat Sheet. Batwoman airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. on The CW.
The Joker exists on ‘Batwoman’
Alice is Batwoman’s major nemesis but the show follows up on Batman’s years in Gotham City. Elizabeth Anweis confirms that Batman has already battled The Joker, whether he appears on the show or not.
“So in the Batcave, the first time I went, because I never go to that set, the first time I got to see it, there were little Joker cards hidden around,” Anweis said. “Like you’ll never see them on camera but it was amazing. They put Joker cards everywhere. There were chattering teeth in different places so it’s been so much fun. “
Elizabeth Anweis is a Batman fan girl
Playing any role in Batwoman was a big deal for Elizabeth Anweis because she grew up with Batman comics. Exploring the Batcave was just a bonus.
“I would steal my brother’s and his friends’ [comics],” Anweis said. “The graphics, the stories are amazing. I’ve just loved Batman since I was little. He’s been my favorite so in that way it was really, really easy and the ideals behind what Catherine wants in Gotham were just really simple to tap into. Just to see the Batsignal in the sky at night took my breath away. They had a real light in the sky in front of that museum. Yeah, it totally stole my breath.”
Elizabeth Anweis’s ‘Batwoman’ characters was in the comics too
Since she read the comic books, Elizabeth Anweis was already familiar with Catherine Hamilton-Kane.
“She is but only a little amount so there isn’t much history,” Anweis said. “She’s completely on board with Jacob and they want the same thing with Crows. The issues comes into play when Batwoman makes an appearance because since Batman’s left, Crow’s private security is filling in the gaps and keeping Gotham safe. And the second someone appears like Batwoman, it poses problems for the Crows which you’ll see. In that way it’s going to be a really difficult and strange relationship.”
Elizabeth Hopes she gets in on the ‘Batwoman’ action
So far Catherine has been involved in more of the dramatic side of Batwoman. She hopes the show allows her to participate in the Gotham City action too.
“Not yet but I’m hoping,” Anweis said. “I’ve been spending a lot of time at the gun range and working out in that way so hopefully.”
