‘Below Deck’: Kate Chastain Discusses Feuds With Hannah Ferrier and Caroline Bedol

Chief stew Kate Chastain from Below Deck offered more details about a few unresolved relationships in her life.

Chastain shocked fans when she revealed that she and chief stew Hannah Ferrier from Below Deck Mediterranean were no longer friends. She shaded Ferrier on social media when she struggled with tablescapes this season, but Ferrier has remained silent about what occurred.

She also had a rough relationship with former third stew Caroline Bedol. Bedol quit the show but then accused Chastain of verbal harassment. Bedol detailed to Showbiz Cheat Sheet about what viewers didn’t see. Some of the footage Bedol alleged was revealed during the season 6 reunion. Chastain offered more insight into both relationships when she joined Heather McDonald on her Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald podcast.

She asserts that Bedol simply didn’t work

McDonald confirmed that she interviewed Bedol and noted that she thought Chastain and second stew Josiah Carter bullied Bedol. “I commend you because you were giving her a fair chance at first,” Chastain said to McDonald. “But then I listened to a later episode and you’re like, ‘You know what? Actually …’ I was like, ‘I knew she’d come around!’ And we were the same way at first. We were trying.”

“I was so nice to her and so patient with her,” Chastain said. “Basically she was just there collecting money. She was down a charter, she was going to the doctor every single time. She was only there for two weeks and went to the doctor four times.”

“So for her to come out and be like, ‘I’ve been treated poorly’ in front of the whole crew, that’s not true. You just can’t handle work and that stuff. But here’s the thing, she’s very smart. She’s brilliant. Especially at the time when people thought we were being mean to her, I certainly didn’t know that she had any issues. I just thought she was being a real jerk. She’s really good at playing the victim, she really is.”

Chastain says Ferrier simply ghosted her

Chastain previously shared that she and Ferrier were no longer friends. But during her discussion with McDonald, it appears that she would have been open to a reconciliation if Ferrier hadn’t ghosted her. She shared that she was thrilled when Below Deck Med came out because it gave her another chief stew to bond with and share stories. “It was finally someone in my exact position that I could commiserate with and share notes, Chastain said.

She’s not sure why, but Ferrier negatively dished about Chastain to someone from the production crew. The gossip made it back to Chastain, which left her feeling uneasy. “But I messaged her and was like ‘Listen, that wasn’t cool what you said.’ And I had just seen her in New York, she was in town for Watch What Happens Live.” In fact, Chastain shared that she raced back to New York from Florida to make it in time to see Ferrier.

“She has not replied, that was in August,” Chastain shared. “She never replied to the message. It’s like if you’re really my friend I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, I’m so sorry. I did say that.’ Or just answer or deny it! She just never even answered.”
