Ben Affleck Raises Concern about His Sobriety after He Stumbles During Halloween Party
The status of Ben Affleck‘s sobriety is still in question after he was spotted looking a little intoxicated while attending a Halloween party in Hollywood.
The actor has been working toward remaining sober these past few years and his most recent stint has fans worried he’s once again going down a dark path.
Video shows the actor almost falling over
Just one year after seeking treatment for alcohol addiction, Affleck is yet again raising a ton of concern surrounding his sobriety.
This past weekend, the actor celebrated Halloween a little bit early by attending the UNICEF Masquerade Ball in West Hollywood.
After enjoying a night of partying, TMZ caught video of an intoxicated Affleck wearing a skeleton mask, stumbling out of Kimpton La Peer Hotel.
After exiting the venue, the actor loses his balance next to a parallel parked SUV, after posing for a photo with an unidentified woman.
In the video, Affleck can be seen stumbling backwards almost falling over, but quickly recovers after grabbing onto the vehicle for support.
Once he’s regained his balance, Affleck makes his way to another parked SUV and enters the back passenger door all while ignoring questions from paparazzi.
The following day, Affleck appeared to be holding up well as he owned up to his mishap to paparazzi while outside of ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s Los Angeles home.
“Well, you know, it happens,” the Triple Frontier actor told photographers. “It’s a slip, but I’m not going to let it derail me.”
Affleck continues to work toward his sobriety
Although this isn’t the first slip up he’s had over the years, battling alcoholism is an ongoing struggle for Affleck.
“Sobriety is difficult and elusive for everyone struggling with addiction, and Ben has acknowledged he’s going to slip up from time to time,” a source recently told E! News. “It was never as if this was simply behind him.”
A second source then shared with the platform that the actor “isn’t happy” about his slip up and has “a sober coach with him now” who’s helping him get back on the right path.
“He’s very committed to his recovery and knows he used bad judgement. He is facing the music and dealing with it,” the source added. “These things can happen but he regrets the choices he made. He wants to be better for his kids and intends to be.”
Although Affleck’s latest alcohol treatment marked the third time he’s attended rehab in 17 years, Affleck has been trying his best to remain sober.
He regularly attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and has been very open about his longtime struggle with the public.
Affleck knows that battling addiction takes time and continues to commit fully to his recovery.
“Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment,” he ,” he wrote in a statement posted to Instagram. “It is a full-time commitment. I am fighting for myself and my family.”
