Ben Stiller Reveals How He Feels About Daughter Acting
Ben Stiller, the famous actor-director known for comedies like Dodgeball and Meet the Fockers, is the product of two notable comedians. His father Jerry Stiller –widely known for his role as Arthur Spooner on the King of Queens – also starred in Hairspray and Heavyweights. Ben Stiller’s mother is none other than Anne Meara from Archie Bunker’s Place, ALF, and Fame.
Ben Stiller and his daughter have been touring colleges recently; however, Stiller sat down with Ellen and expressed his daughter’s intention to join the “family business.” With performance in her blood, it’s no surprise that Ella Olivia Stiller is drawn to acting, and wants to take her shot in the crazy world of Showbiz. However, does Stiller support her dream, or think she should go in another direction?
Ben Stiller says he wishes to support his daughter “in any way possible…legally”
Amidst the controversy still circling Felicity Huffman and Lori Laughlin (regarding the college cheating scandal), Ben Stiller jokes that he will support his daughter within legal limits, as his intentions could easily be misconstrued in the current climate.
Stiller even says, “She is going to Yale on a full football scholarship. And she’s going to major in Photoshopping.” Once a comedian, always a comedian. Ben Stiller didn’t shy away from getting his jab in with this scandal. However, he quickly moved on to discuss his daughter.
When asked if he was happy about his daughter’s plans to enter the entertainment industry, Stiller told Ellen DeGeneres that he was happy, and explained:
“…Because she loves it and she’s very passionate about it, and she knows what she wants to do. I knew when I was 10, 11 years old that I wanted to direct movies, and eventually act, too.”ET Canada
With Stiller fully supporting his daughter’s plans, it looks like another Stiller may be coming up through the ranks. However, since the two were touring colleges, it’s likely that we have a few years left before Ella Olivia Stiller takes center stage.
If the daughter plans to major in theatre, she was likely scouting the University of California – Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University, Chapman University, and the University of Southern California (USC), as these institutions boast the best theatre programs in California, according to CollegeFactual.com. Ella Olivia Stiller is 16 years old, and already has an IMDb page; however, there have yet to be any credits listed.
Does Ben Stiller have any other kids, and what are their future plans?
Ben Stiller, in addition to his daughter Ella, has a 13-year-old son Quinlan Dempsey Stiller. Ben Stiller was married to Christine Taylor up until 2017, which whom he had both children. However, they are on excellent terms, and some would even say that there may be more than friendship lurking, but that topic is for another article.
Quinlan Dempsey Stiller has already made his acting dreams public, as he has appeared in Megamind, Madagascar: Escape to Africa, and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
However, since he is only 13 years old, it’s more than possible that Quinlan decides to go in another direction. Regardless of the boy’s future, when it comes to acting, the Stillers just have it in their blood (as both parties constituting the third generation are working to carry on the tradition).
