Bethenny Frankel Spills Details on Her New Upcoming Reality Shows
Skinnygirl founder Bethenny Frankel recently announced her departure from Bravo TV’s Real Housewives of New York. The former reality star is now pursuing other projects with producer Mark Burnett and shared some news on what’s in the works.
No longer a ‘Housewife’
In August, Frankel announced she was leaving the Real Housewives series. “I have decided to leave the Housewives franchise to explore my next chapter. It’s time to move on and focus on my daughter, my philanthropy and my production partnership with Mark Burnett, producing and starring in shows which represent a shift in the conversation for women,” Frankel said in a statement to People, referring to her 9-year-old daughter Bryn whom she shares with ex Jason Hoppy.
Frankel’s decision to move on was not monetary but rather her instinct that it was time to follow a new path. “It wasn’t about money,” Frankel said, according to People. “If I went back, it was about money, if that makes any sense. When I joined The Housewives, everyone told me not to do it and I went with my gut to do it. And when I thought about leaving, everyone told me not to leave. And I went with my gut to leave.”
The Skinnygirl mogul also revealed that she prefers exiting when things are going well. “I like to leave when something for me is at its peak and I was talking to Bravo about many different things and I just decided let’s roll, it’s time to go,” Frankel said.
Frankel’s new partnership with Burnett includes several TV projects which she spoke of last month. “Most of the shows are around women, business — some are around food,” she said, according to People. “But mostly entrepreneurs and women. But not in a touchy-feely way but in sort of a hardcore way, if that makes any sense.”
Apparently development is moving right along, with the former reality star sharing new details last week. “We’re in like, legal paper stage for two shows — one that I would be in, that would focus on me and a lot of the business aspects of myself and the next stage of my life,” Frankel told Entertainment Tonight. “And the other one, I’m not in. I’m just producing it. But both of them were my ideas. They’re my execution, so it’s amazing to be able to take the next step in television.”
Frankel is clearly thrilled with her new business partner and didn’t hesitate to sing his praises. “Mark Burnett is another level — I’ve met my match!” she raved. She went on to note that she’s done well in the romance department as well. “I’ve met my match romantically [with boyfriend Paul Bernon], and I’ve met my match, creatively, business-wise and [in] television with Mark Burnett,” Frankel said.
The former Real Housewife has been posting evidence of her happiness with Bernon, including a special one-year-anniversary message on Instagram. “Having such a supportive and loving partner makes me a better person & inspires me to achieve the impossible!” Frankel wrote to Bernon in September, along with a pic of the couple. “Happy Anniversary! I love you and thank you for the most beautiful year.”
She hasn’t been shy about singing her boyfriend’s praises on television. On a recent Watch What Happens Live episode, she called Bernon “a beautiful human being inside and out,” according to People. She also gushed about his relationship with her daughter. “Bryn knows him and loves him. They’re very, very similar people,” she said.
Hopefully an air date for Frankel’s new shows will be released soon!
