Cast of ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Reunites for New Series: Where are Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry?
This summer is about to be filled to the brim with nostalgia, with a very important reunion: the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 will be reuniting for a special summer series reboot that’s guaranteed to hit you with all of those old school feels. While most of the cast is signed on for the reunion, which guarantees a “twist,” there are some familiar faces absent from the series.

Beverly Hills, 90210 ruled TV in the 90s… and now it’s back
One of the most iconic TV shows of the 90s was Beverly Hills, 90210, so we’d say it’s ripe for a reboot, right? Luckily, the TV gods have answered our prayers and the show is returning to its original parent network, Fox.
Fox announced the happy news today, revealing that most of the cast will reunite for the six-episode series this summer: Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling.
Beverly Hills, 90210 gets a fresh spin
Interestingly, the new series, titled 90210, isn’t the typical reboot and offers a new “twist” as the official description explains:
The core cast will all play heightened versions of themselves in a brand-new serialized drama — with a healthy dose of irreverence – that is inspired by their real lives and relationships. Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast — whom the whole world watched grow up together — attempts to continue from where they left off?
So. Very. Meta.
Two cast members are noticeably absent
While it’s cool to have most of the original cast getting together for what’s sure to be this summer’s most guilty pleasure, two cast members are not on the list and fans aren’t happy.
Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty are currently not part of the lineup, but Entertainment Weekly reports that “the door is open” for them to return. So don’t lose hope — Brenda and Dylan could very well be in the mix this summer too.
Why the show is making a comeback
Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, Fox, shared why the show is returning to TV, explaining: “Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation.”
He added: “Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network’s DNA — bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters — and we’re honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210.”
Beverly Hills, 90210 premiered in 1990 and ran for 10 seasons, spawning the spinoffs Melrose Place and Models Inc. 90210 ran for 5 seasons beginning in 2008, with Garth, Doherty, and Spelling reprising their roles.
