Will Beyoncé Act in the Upcoming Disney+ Visual Album, ‘Black Is King’?
Beyoncé is Queen Bey and her reign on Disney+ is just beginning. Hot off the heels of her Juneteenth release, “Black Parade,” this artist will debut another visual album inspired by and celebrating Black voices. However, some fans are wondering if Beyoncé will star in Black Is King. Here’s what we know about this production and its cast.
Beyoncé is premiering another visual album, titled ‘Black is King’
This Grammy-award winning artist is back with another announcement. This time, she shared Black is King will debut on Disney+. This visual album will premiere on Disney’s streaming platform during July 2020.
According to one announcement, Black Is King will help tell the story of The Lion King: The Gift, Beyoncé’s album inspired by African music and Disney’s The Lion King.
“These timeless lessons are revealed and reflected through Black voices of today, now sitting in their own power,” according to the announcement for the visual album. “Black Is King is an affirmation of a grand purpose, with lush visuals that celebrate Black resilience and culture. The film highlights the beauty of tradition and Black excellence.”
Now, some fans of this artist are wondering who will act in this upcoming production. (For Lemonade, public figures like Chloe and Halle Bailey and Zendaya made cameos.) Thanks to a trailer released on Beyoncé’s Instagram, fans have a better idea regarding the cast of Black Is King.
Will Beyoncé act in this upcoming production?
In true Beyoncé fashion, not much has been revealed regarding the story of this visual album. As a result, it’s unclear if Beyoncé will be acting in this visual album or just making a cameo.
She does, however, appear in a trailer for the upcoming production, holding a baby. There are also a few other characters teased in the Instagram video, including a king and even Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z.
Some fans remember that Beyoncé was the star of her groundbreaking visual album, Lemonade, which debuted a few years earlier. This visual album, by contrast, will tell the story of the songs of the album, celebrating black culture, music, and featuring the hits of The Lion King: The Gift.
‘Black Is King’ is available exclusively on Disney+
Although the music featured in The Lion King: The Gift is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal, Black is King will debut exclusively on Disney+. This wouldn’t be the first time that Beyoncé appeared on this streaming platform, as the artist performed “When You Wish Upon a Star” for the Disney Family Singalong. She also voice-acted in Disney’s The Lion King.
Beyoncé’s Black is King debuts on Disney’s streaming platform on July 31. Until then, fans can watch the 2019 adaptation of The Lion King on Disney+. To learn more about Disney+ and to subscribe, visit their website.
