Here’s What We Know About Beyoncé’s New Netflix Film ‘Homecoming’

After a week or rumors and speculation –it’s official! Beyoncé has teamed up with Netflix for her latest documentary film —Homecoming. The notoriously private singer has used films in the past to give her fans glimpses into her life. In 2013–after returning to music after a short hiatus after giving birth to her first child, Blue Ivy Carter, the Crazy in Love icon debut her autobiographical television film —Life is But A Dream.

Now Beyoncé is about to slay 2019 with her new Netflix documentary, Homecoming and later this year she will portray adult Nala in the live-action version of The Lion King.

What is Beyoncé’s Homecoming about?

The official description from Netflix reads, “Homecoming presents an intimate look at Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities. Interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.”

If you recall —Beyoncé’s Coachella performance was massive. It had a 26-song set list that spanned her entire career. She was also joined on the stage by Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland for a Destiny’s Child reunion; her sister Solange Knowles; and her husband JAY-Z. During night one of her performance, the songstress said,

I’m so happy that I am here. I was supposed to perform at Coachella [last year], but I ended up getting pregnant—thank God! So I had time to dream and dream and dream with two beautiful souls in my belly.…Thank you guys for sharing this with me. I hope y’all enjoyed the show.” Let’s just hope Netflix captured even more behind the scenes footage from Beyoncé’s massive return to the stage.

When will Beyoncé’s Homecoming debut on Netflix?

Thankfully, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter knows that we are desperate for this film and she isn’t making us wait too long for its debut. Homecoming will premiere globally on Netflix on April 17, 2019.

Will Beyoncé share behind-the-scenes footage of her family life in Homecoming?

From the looks of the Homecoming trailer, we will get to see rehearsals leading up to the 2-nights of Coachella as well as small glimpses into Bey’s family life with her husband, JAY-Z, daughter, Blue Ivy, and infant twins, Sir and Rumi.

Will Beyoncé debut a new album in 2019?

In addition to Homecoming, it also looks like we may get new music from Beyoncé this year. We already know that her stunning vocals will appear on the soundtrack for the live action version of The Lion King. Apparently, she and Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino will be singing, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?”

However, an insider to US Weekly that in addition to her Netflix deal, the singer will also be debuting her first solo album since 2016’s Lemonade. The source revealed, “Beyoncé doesn’t have a new full album, but she is recording a couple of new tracks [for] a deluxe album filled with old songs.”
