Beyoncé’s Kindest Moments, From Saving Taylor Swift to Donating $1 Million to Black Businesses
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s reputation for being one of the most talented and hardworking artists in the world is well earned. From Lemonade to Black is King, her resume speaks for itself. But Beyoncé also carries a reputation for being one of the kindest human beings a fan could ever meet, which is unique for a global icon.
Dozens of stories about Beyoncé’s kindness circulate the internet, but there are several moments in particular that truly highlight how nice she truly is.
Beyoncé rescued Taylor Swift from a VMA nightmare
It’s hard for anyone to forget the night Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the VMAs. Swift had just won the ‘Best Female Video’ award for “You Belong With Me”, and was ready to claim her prize when Yeezy stormed the stage. He grabbed the microphone from her and had the unforgettable “I’ma let you finish” mini-meltdown, forever going down in television history.
In an attempt to defend Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” video, West made a major mistake. Beyoncé wouldn’t stand for it and brought Swift back on stage to make a proper acceptance speech later in the evening .
“I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV Award with Destiny’s Child, and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life,” Beyoncé said, according to Harper’s Bazaar. “So, I’d like for Taylor to come out and have her moment.”
She donated $1 mill to Black-owned businesses
Most people like to receive gifts on their birthday, but Beyoncé is different. In Sept., the singer celebrated her 39th birthday by giving $1 million to Black-owned small businesses. The funds all went to businesses that had been affected by Covid-19, according to Vulture.
The singer previously announced the fund in July, and currently runs it in partnership with the NAACP. There aren’t too many people that would give $1 million out of their own pocket to help struggling businesses!
Sasha Fierce sent flowers to a cancer patient
Beyoncé is known to do kind things for people who are battling illnesses. In late Sept. she continued to do so, sending flowers to a girl that currently has cancer. The girl, Lyric Chanel, later shared a grateful message on Twitter.
“When the Queen Bey sends you flowers.” she said, according to the News-Herald. “Thank you so much @beyonce Lyric was so shocked to get mail from you and she said Beyoncé is the Best!!! We love you so much and she hopes to one day meet you (sic)”
Apparently, Beyoncé’s flower’s included a message of their own for the young girl.
“I was so moved to see how these lyrics inspired you, not nearly as much as you inspired me,” she said. “I can’t wait to meet you one day and I’m so happy you’re home safely. You are a survivor. God bless, B.”
Bey was beyond kind to a restaurant staff
Earlier this year, popular TikTok user Julia Carolann shared a video rating celebrities for their treatment of restaurant staff. Carolann is based in New York City, so the restaurant she works frequently has high profile guests.
According to Carolann, Beyoncé is one of the nicer celebrities she’s serviced. In the video, she gives her a rating of 10,000,000/10, and states that she looked directly at Carolann with a big smile and told her, “thank you.”
She complimented Meghan Duchess of Sussex’s baby
Meghan and Prince Harry faced constant scrutiny during their time as working members of the royal family. U.K. tabloids frequently wrote invasive stories about the couple and many speculated a racial component played a role. In early 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry announced that they would be stepping back from the spotlight and moving to America.
When Meghan and Prince Harry ran into Beyoncé and Jay-Z at the London premiere of The Lion King, the energy was very different. Beyoncé instantly showered the couple with a positive compliment, stating “Your baby is so beautiful.” For a couple facing a ton of media scrutiny about their child, the compliment surely went a long way
