‘Big Brother 21’ Fans Are Angry That Jackson Michie Was Allegedly Arrested Before the Show

Update 7/18/19: The Cheat Sheet reached out to Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin Police Department to see if they have any record of Jackson Michie being arrested for domestic assault last year. Neither had any record of it and noted Franklin, TN is in Williamson County, not Knox County like the alleged report claims.

This article has also included CBS’ response to Newsweek about the allegation that houseguests used a slur on the live feeds.

Correction: The post previously claimed it was Holly Allen, who talked about Michie being previously arrested on the live feeds. The houseguest who talked about it was rumored to be Kathryn Dunn.

Big Brother 21 has gotten a lot of backlash from fans who watch the live feeds. That’s because Jackson Michie and Jack Matthews’ comments about the minorities in the house are hidden from the show.

Now there might be another reason fans are worried about Michie being cast for Big Brother. Find out what it is and more.

Fans were angry about Jackson Michie targeting the minorities in the cast

Jackson Michie started the season by playing hard. He campaigned to become the Camp Director and won in the first week. Michie had to banish four houseguests to compete and the one to lose a competition will be eliminated.

Michie nominated Jessica Milagros, Kemi Fakunle, Cliff Hogg and David Alexander. Fans couldn’t help but notice three of those people are people of color. It also didn’t help that his closest friend in the house is Jackson Matthews who later made terrible comments about Fakunle.

Fans made a petition to get Matthews out of the house. “Jack Matthews has said numerous racist things and has been very aggressive towards the only black woman in the Big Brother house, including saying he wants to ‘stomp a mud hole through her chest.’ He needs to be expelled for Kemi’s safety and to show that it’s not okay to be racist in 2019, especially on tv,” read the petition.

Matthews and Michie were the centers of controversy again last week. They were talking about Alexander and how to annoy him. Some believe they were calling him a n*gger. However, they are close by the sink that had water running so the audio isn’t clear. CBS also told Newsweek that they found no usage of the word by any of the houseguests.

Michie might’ve been previously arrested

Kathyrn Dunn was seen talking about Michie previously being arrested on the live feeds. Fans did their own digging after that and found a Jackson Michie who was arrested for domestic assault in Franklin, Tennessee.

It’s unknown if he was convicted of any crime. Former Big Brother winner, Dick Donato shared the record of the arrest on Twitter.

Fans are angry at casting for including Michie if the arrest is real

People are angry that Michie might have been arrested for domestic violence. Some are wondering how this doesn’t disqualify him from being on the show and if other potential cast members would be given the same chance.

Audrey Middleton from Big Brother 17 and the first out trans houseguest spoke out against the show for not showing Matthews and Michie’s comments. “They protect the worst individuals on the show and undermine the edits of the minorities because they need people to keep watching. They can’t exploit the Jack’s because they need to be likable for the long game to retain viewership. #BB21,” she tweeted.

She continued, “They represent those that suit them. If you don’t, they will discredit, sabotage and exploit those who they deem lesser than to limit their voice. To be honest, it’s much darker, in my experience. Too much to type. If you want justice, force them to change by not watching. #Bb21.”

Those behind the show have yet to address Michie’s casting.
