Key things to know about the ‘Big Brother’ application

The application to appear on Big Brother 22 is currently live on CBS’s website. The deadline to turn it in is on April 3, 2020, although this date could change at the discretion of producers, as noted on the website.

There are several non-negotiable eligibility requirements that any potential contestant must agree to before signing on. One of them is that you must agree to stay in the Big Brother house in Los Angeles for approximately 100 days. Another is that you have to fund your travel to an interview if you are selected for the semi-finals.

If you are selected for the finals, you will get funding to travel to Los Angeles. According to the application, all received applications and/or interviews will be narrowed down to a pool of 40 finalists.

Applying isn’t the only way you can be on the show

Of course, submitting an application is not the only way that you can apply to be on Big Brother. There will be casting calls held across the country. The date, time, and location of these calls has not been announced yet. And as many superfans know, producers allegedly recruit people that they think would be good people to have on the show.

Many past houseguests have stated on feeds that they were recruited and would allude to not being interested in being on the show if they were not approached to be on it.

In 2015, former houseguest James Rhine told HuffPost, “They found me on Myspace. They literally hit me up because they liked the modeling picture I had as a profile picture, and my old job was as a corporate investigator. I had never watched the show, but they kept telling me they saw me as the second coming of this Dr. Will person.”

Big Brother returns to CBS in 2020.
