‘Big Little Lies’ cast, who’s coming back for season two?
In a statement given out by the shows co-executive producers, Reese Witherspoon, and Nicole Kidman, “most” of the main characters will be returning. While the word “most” might seem cryptic, we do know that all the women will be back. They have all signed contracts and finished their parts.
“I’m thrilled to be bringing back this talented team of artists,” Witherspoon said in a statement. “It gives us the opportunity to delve deeper into the lives of these intriguing and intricate Monterey families and bring more of their stories back to the audience who embraced and championed them.” A
We also know that Kidman’s children will be extras in at least one of the scenes, according to what she told Ellen in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. So what else did we learn from Kidman’s interview? We learned about a possible major twist in the story. Here’s a hint, it has something to do with Meryl Streep. Yes, the Meryl Streep!
Who’s new to the show, and what surprises are in store?
As if Big Little Lies didn’t have enough star power, they have announced that one of the biggest names in Hollywood has signed on for season two. Streep has signed on to play the role of Perry Wright’s (Alexander Skarsgard) mother. It sounds like she has been cast to try and figure out what circumstances led to her son’s untimely death last season.
“She deeply loved her son … as much as any mother can love her son,” Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty said in an interview about Streep’s role. “She had a slightly fraught relationship with her daughter-in-law, so it’s a very complicated, difficult time.”
There is speculation that she will have a large part as the case unravels around the main characters. She is supposedly going to be living with Kidman’s character on the show.
Another surprise we might be looking forward to is the return of Alexander Skarsgard. He might be reprising his role in some way. It will be interesting to see if they decide to bring him back for flashbacks, or hauntings. Either way, he was a pivotal character last season, and many fans want him back, dead or alive.
When is the new season of ‘Big Little Lies’ starting?
Big fans of Big Little Lies won’t have to wait that much longer for the premiere of season two. In February, HBO officially announced that season two starts in June 2019. Now that we all have our summer planned out around the show, we can’t wait to start watching what’s next for the women of Monterey.
What we do know is that Bonnie will be a more significant part of season two. That makes sense given the HUGE surprise ending. Many of the new trailers seem to suggest that she might be having a hard time dealing with her part in his death. There is even evidence that they will be taken into custody.
The one thing we can be sure of is that the season two premiere will likely break rating’s records. Fans have been waiting a long time to see what happens next.
