‘Big Sky’: Jade Pettyjohn Talks About Her Character’s Injuries – ‘The Audience Should Be Very Concerned’
ABC’s new series Big Sky is full of twists that fans won’t see coming. This week, one of the missing sisters makes some headway when it comes to an escape attempt. However, things don’t turn out the way viewers might hope, and episode 3 is an edge-of-your-seat episode from start to finish.

Two sisters are abducted, which starts a search for their whereabouts
Two teenage sisters, Danielle (Natalie Alyn Lind) and Grace (Jade Pettyjohn), are abducted by a truck driver named Ronald Pergman (Brian Geraghty) who’s involved in a sex trafficking ring. Danielle’s boyfriend, Justin (Gage Marsh), gets his parents involved, Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick) and Cody Hoyt (Ryan Phillippe), an ex-cop and a private investigator, along with Cody’s partner, Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury). They search for the missing girls, but when Cody gets too close, a state trooper named Rick Legarski (John Carroll Lynch) shoots and kills him. It turns out Rick is also involved in the sex trafficking ring with the truck driver.
Grace escapes, but not for long
Jenny and Cassie continue the search for the sisters as well as Cody, who they believe is missing. Meanwhile, Danielle and Grace are being held captive with Jerry (Jesse James Keitel), who was kidnapped right before them. All three try to manipulate Ronald, but it’s no use. However, they manage to bend a metal side frame of the trailer attachment they’re being held in, and Grace is able to slip through after getting free of her chains. But without the strength of all three, the rest can’t escape with her.
Grace manages to get free through a drainage system even though the whole floor and pipe collapse while she’s inside. She makes it out and into the wilderness, but Rick is on her trail, and he finds her as she’s enlisting a fisherman for his assistance. Rick shoots the man with an arrow, killing him. Grace tries to get away, but Rick grabs her. She throws a fishing hook at him, which gets caught in his cheek and gives her a few precious moments to get away. But it isn’t enough time, as Rick shoots her with an arrow in her leg twice. He takes her back to where her sister and Jerry are being held, and it’s pretty clear she’s going to need medical attention.
Jade Pettyjohn talks about her character’s injuries
Jade Pettyjohn, who plays Grace, recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about what happened. She was asked about how worried the audience should be for Grace when it comes to her injuries from the arrows. Without medicine or a way to properly tend to the injuries, it’s unclear what will happen next, and Pettyjohn says we should all be “very concerned.” She even teases what’s to come in the next episode, saying that they will try to “save her and it’s very gross.” What could she possibly be implying?
“The audience should be very concerned,” Pettyjohn revealed. “Because not only did she get hit by an arrow in the leg, it was through her leg. Both of those arrows went completely through her leg. She has no medication or any way to clean the wound. Obviously, they can’t get stitches. What I’m excited about in episode 4, they do try and help the wound in a very, very weird way and try and save her and it’s very gross. But there’s a lot of repercussions to her injury and the loss of blood and the adrenaline finally abating and the weight of her injury kicking in. That’s something that all three girls have to navigate.”
Could Grace’s life be at risk? It’s unclear at this point, but the way this series is going, it appears anything could happen. Cody died in the premiere episode in a shocking turn of events, so it’s certainly something viewers should be worried about. Grace will surely need medical attention soon. But will she get it? And will they be able to escape?
Fans will hopefully get much-needed answers in the upcoming episode of Big Sky on Tuesday December 8, at 10 p.m. E.S.T.
