Where do things currently stand?
The two teenage girls who have been abducted, Danielle (Natalie Alyn Lind) and Grace (Jade Pettyjohn), have made numerous attempts to find a way out along with Jerrie (Jesse James Keitel), who was kidnapped right before them. The sisters were kidnapped on a rural highway in Montana by a long-haul trucker named Ronald Pergman (Brian Geraghty). He’s working with a state trooper, Rick Legarski (John Carroll Lynch), in a sex trafficking ring.
Danielle’s boyfriend, Justin (Gage Marsh), gets his parents involved, an ex-cop and a private investigator. Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick), and her husband, Cody (Ryan Phillippe), team up with his investigative partner Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) to track those who were abducted down. But when Cody gets too close, Rick shoots and murders him.
Jenny and Cassie have yet to discover what’s happened to Cody, but they know he’s missing. Cassie is already extremely suspicious of Rick the state trooper. They attempt to find Danielle, Grace, Jerry, and Cody.
Grace manages to escape her chains and slip through the metal side panel in the trailer attachment they’re being kept in, and she finds a way out through a drainage system. However, Rick tracks her down, killing an innocent man who tries to help her, and he shoots Grace with an arrow twice in the leg. Grace is brought back to the makeshift cell by Rick, clearly hurt and in need of medical assistance.
What will season 1, episode 4 be about?
Episode 4 is called Unfinished Business and the search for the missing girls and Cody will continue with a renewed energy. Jenny and Cassie will team up like never before, putting a tracker on Rick’s car to get more answers. They’ll even find the place where Danielle, Grace, and Jerry were being kept, but it’s unclear if they’ll actually locate them.
Here is NBC’s official synopsis of the upcoming episode: “Unsatisfied with the investigation now that the girls’ disappearance has made headlines, Cassie and Jenny take things into their own hands, tapping into their individual strengths to make headway in the case. Meanwhile, Legarski attempts to keep cool, but Ronald takes a different approach to protecting himself. Still captive, Danielle and Jerrie tend to Grace, who makes a painful decision in an attempt to save them all.”
The promo trailer teases more conflict to come
In the promo trailer, Ronald’s mother, Helen, (Valerie Mahaffey), asks him if he has anything to do with the missing teenagers. “Have something to do with those missing girls?” she asks him. Clearly she’s suspicious of her son’s behavior, but will he come clean to her?
In the next scene, Ronald talks to Rick, and tells him, “She doesn’t know anything,” presumably talking about his mother.
“Then why is she asking?” Rick yells at Ronald.
Meanwhile, Jenny and Cassie are done playing games, and they meet Rick face to face together. “We can’t just sit around waiting for Legarski to show his hand,” Jenny says. In the preview, she introduces herself to him, so it will be interesting to see how Rick handles it, as he already knows that Cassie is suspicious and spoke to his ex-wife about him.
They end up putting a tracker on Rick’s car to follow him, and manage to find the place where those who were kidnapped were being kept at an old building no longer in use by the Bureau of Land Management. “We stick together, have each other’s backs,” Cassie tells Jenny.
They search the property for those that are missing, but it’s unclear if they’ll find them. “I feel we’re close,” Cassie says during the search of the premises.
But that’s not all. In a recent Instagram post on the official account for the series, it was revealed that Jenny will be going undercover at a truck stop. She will wear a wig, and it will be interesting to see the former cop in her element working undercover.
What else will happen? Episode 4 of Big Sky premieres this Tuesday on ABC at 10 p.m. E.S.T.
