Bill O’Reilly Fires Back at Megyn Kelly, Releases Thank You Notes She Wrote Him
O’Reilly calls Megyn Kelly’s monologue about him ‘incomprehensible’
After Megyn Kelly said on her show this morning that she complained about Bill O’Reilly’s conduct while at Fox News, O’Reilly has fired back.
On NBC News this morning, Kelly refuted O’Reilly’s statement that no one ever complained about him at Fox News, revealing that in fact she personally complained that he was contributing to a culture that shamed and silenced women who were sexually harassed. Hours later, O’Reilly appeared as a guest on Glenn Beck’s radio show (via Mediaite), first saying that he doesn’t believe that Megyn Kelly ever formally complained about him. O’Reilly then had Glenn Beck read out on the air thank you notes that Megyn Kelly wrote to him, apparently as evidence that they got along well at Fox News.
The first note was evidently written from Kelly to O’Reilly after O’Reilly plugged her husband’s book. Kelly writes to O’Reilly, “I appreciate how supportive you have been of me over the years here @ FNC. You are a true friend + mentor.” The second note was written from Kelly to O’Reilly after he attended her baby shower. Kelly writes, “What a class act you are, coming to my baby shower. I was truly touched.” Later, she writes, “You’ve become a dear friend (no matter what you say) + I am grateful to have you in my life.”
It’s unclear when these notes would have been written, but it doesn’t appear they were recent; the baby shower note, for example, is at least four years old, as Kelly’s youngest child was born in 2013. In addition to having Glenn Beck read these notes on the air, O’Reilly also had them released to a reporter.

While on Glenn Beck’s show, Bill O’Reilly said that he doesn’t understand why Megyn Kelly went after him since he’s always been supportive of her.
“I never had any problem with Megyn Kelly,” O’Reilly told Glenn Beck today. “In fact, when she was getting hammered earlier this year, I wrote a column sticking up for her. I don’t know why Megyn Kelly is doing what she’s doing. I helped her dramatically in her career. I gave her the name of her show, The Kelly File. She actually did a charity event for me. It is just incomprehensible.”
On her show today, Megyn Kelly said that she complained about Bill O’Reilly in November 2016. This was at the time when Kelly was promoting her book Settle for More. While discussing the book in an interview, O’Reilly suggested that Kelly should be quiet and stop making the network look bad. This inspired Kelly to write an email to Fox News’ co-presidents.
“Perhaps he didn’t realize that his exact attitude of shaming women into shutting the hell up about harassment on grounds that it will disgrace the company is in part how Fox News got into the decades’ long Ailes mess to begin with,” Kelly said in the email, which she read out on air.
