Billie Eilish Just Made History With Her 2020 Grammy Nominations
Billie Eilish just made Grammy history.
Nominated for six Grammys at the 2020 awards show, the insanely famous 17-year-old singer has become the youngest person to ever receive nominations in all four of the show’s biggest categories, according to E! News.
What awards has she been nominated for?
Eilish has been nominated in the following categories: Best Solo Performance, Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, according to the Recording Academy’s list of 2020 Grammy nominations released on Nov. 20, 2019.
‘Bad Guy’ got three Grammy nods
The singer’s hit song, “Bad Guy,” from her 2019 album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, is nominated for Song of the Year, Best Solo Performance, and Record of the Year.
We think Eilish has a serious chance of winning Song of the Year for “Bad Guy” because of the song’s unique sound and the fact that we couldn’t go anywhere in 2019 without hearing it.
The song took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 from “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus after the track spent a record-breaking 19 weeks on top, according to Billboard.
Who is Eilish up against in Album of the Year category?
The California native is up against seven other artists for Album of the Year. She’s nominated for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? but will have to face off against other musicians such as Ariana Grande, Lizzo, and Bon Iver.
These are the other nominees besides Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? for Album of the Year:
Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next
Vampire Weekend’s Father of the Bride
H.E.R.’s I Used to Know Her
Lana Del Rey’s Norman F****ng Rockwell!
Bon Iver’s i,i
Lil Nas X’s 7
Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You (Deluxe)
She’s made history before
Her first studio album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, received positive reviews from fans who couldn’t get enough of the teen’s signature sound and critics loved it too.
Her most well-known track from the album, “Bad Guy,” put the young musician at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and the U.K. Albums Chart. Having her song at the No. 1 spot on both charts made her the first artist born during the 2000s — her birthday is Dec. 18, 2001 — to have a chart-topping album in the U.S. and youngest female musician to ever come in first on the U.K. charts.
After that, she broke yet another record. This time for the highest number of singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for a female artist. She now holds the record for 14 singles showing up on the chart.
