‘BiP’: Dean Unglert Has Major Regrets About Saying He’d Never Date Within ‘Bachelor’ Nation
This past season of Bachelor in Paradise was more dramatic than ever before — and a few surprising Bachelor Nation superstars made it to the beaches of Mexico. Fans may remember when Dean Unglert first made his premiere on Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette. While he was a fan favorite back then, his first time on Bachelor in Paradise showed him getting involved in a complicated love triangle. And after finding love and losing it via The Bachelor Winter Games, he assumed he’d never find love through the show.
While Unglert has denounced dating through the series in the past, his current relationship with Caelynn Miller-Keyes has him changing his tune. Here’s why he now has regrets about what he initially said.
Dean Unglert didn’t go on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ for love the second time
Unglert’s fallen in love via Bachelor shows in the past, and he made it clear that his latest stint in Paradise wasn’t to find love. On his podcast, Help! I Suck at Dating …, he explained why he went to the beach the second time. “The entire time I was like, ‘yeah, I’m just here.’ I’m not gonna leave as a boyfriend, I’m not gonna leave with a girlfriend. … I went because it was fun,” he said. And Unglert also mentioned he was completely transparent with the producers regarding his intentions.
Not only that, but Unglert loves new adventures, and he added, “It’s silly to say no to things. I didn’t miss out on anything by not going, so what’s the point in not going? … It was a very well-known fact that me being on that beach was just there to have a good experience.”
He once said he’d never date within ‘Bachelor’ Nation again
Unglert has successfully found relationships through the Bachelor shows in the past, but after his last failure with Lesley Murphy, he decided he’d had enough. During an interview with Access, he talked about his reluctance to date anyone from the shows ever again. “None of these Bachelor relationships are real, not a single one of them,” he told Access.
While Unglert then added that the Bachelor relationships that end in marriage and kids may be real, the majority of them are completely contrived. “Every one of them is fake, and they’re contrived … I’m not into that,” he continued. As for his own relationship with Lesley Murphy that developed on Winter Games, he also noted that it didn’t seem super genuine, as they had to play it up for the cameras. “There was a noticeable difference between how someone was acting when the cameras were on and when the cameras were off.”
Unglert regrets what he said now that he’s with Caelynn Miller-Keyes
Despite what Unglert said in the recent past, he’s now fallen hard for Caelynn Miller-Keyes after meeting her in Paradise. And the two of them are really making their relationship work now that they’re off the beaches of Mexico. While Miller-Keyes is a pageant girl, she’s giving life a try with Unglert living in his van — and the two seem happier than ever.
During a recent interview with Access, Unglert addressed what he said about never dating within Bachelor Nation again. “I was very convicted in my statement, too — I was like, ‘it’s never gonna happen,'” he admitted. Unglert then added that he completely regrets his claim since he’s now found love even when he really meant it at the time. “I didn’t meant to discredit the relationships that are really genuine in Bachelor Nation … there’s a lot of very real relationships that I felt very bad for … badmouthing, I guess. … I felt bad for the scrutiny they were receiving from me.”
As for him and Miller-Keyes, Unglert mentioned that his relationship is still quite new, but going strong. “We’re taking our time, we’re happy, and that’s all that’s important, I think, at the moment,” he added.
Will we see a future engagement from Unglert and Miller-Keyes? We’ll have to wait and see — but their future looks bright so far!
