‘BiP’: Why Caelynn Miller-Keyes Just Said She’s ‘Thankful’ for Dean Unglert’s Trip to the Grand Canyon
The latest season of Bachelor in Paradise ended in engagements, heartbreak, and a lot of drama. And when the season first started, all eyes were on Blake Horstmann and Caelynn Miller-Keyes. Miller-Keyes arrived on the beaches of Mexico upset with Horstmann due to relations they had prior to the show. But it wasn’t long before Dean Unglert swept Miller-Keyes off her feet, and she quickly fell for him while leaving drama with Horstmann behind.
Now, Miller-Keyes and Unglert are still together. And recently, Miller-Keyes cryptically noted on her Instagram Story that she’s grateful for Unglert’s trip to the Grand Canyon. Here’s why she mentioned it.
Dean Unglert didn’t hope to find love on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ the second time
This past season was the first time Miller-Keyes stepped foot on the beaches of Paradise, but Unglert had been there before. While he attempted to find love in the past, he took a different approach to this season. As he mentioned on his podcast, Help! I Suck at Dating …, “It’s silly to say no to things. I didn’t miss out on anything by not going, so what’s the point in not going? … It was a very well-known fact that me being on that beach was just there to have a good experience.”
When he first arrived on the beach, he made note that he was just there for a good time, too. And while he went on dates with Miller-Keyes, Miller-Keyes’ friends warned her he would break her heart in the end. As we know, Unglert did decide to leave the show on her birthday just as she was starting to get quite invested in the relationship. His reasoning for leaving was that he didn’t think their relationship would work outside of the confines of the show, and he knew she was seeking something more serious than he could offer.
His relationship with Miller-Keyes has been great since ‘Paradise’
Unglert had cold feet regarding his relationship with Miller-Keyes in the beginning, but as we know, he came back to Paradise after reconsidering. And he actually thinks leaving the show behind worked out the best it could’ve for him.
“It’s funny to say this because it worked out perfectly for me. It couldn’t have worked out any better for me,” he said on his podcast. Unglert added that he knew Miller-Keyes went to Paradise wanting to get to know Connor Saeli, so Unglert’s absence from the beach gave her the ability to do that. “So she didn’t have to, like, have me around … worrying about my feelings while she could explore her relationship with him,” he added.
When Unglert returned, Miller-Keyes then got to know both men and choose who she wanted to go with — and she chose to leave the beach with Unglert.
Miller-Keyes wrote about Unglert’s trip to the Grand Canyon on her Instagram Story
Despite Unglert living out of a van and Miller-Keyes being used to pageant life, the two are bonding over life on the road now and are posting all of their adventures together on Instagram. And Unglert recently posted a photo of a magnet that’s in his van to his Instagram Story with the caption, “got a new magnet to commemorate that one time I went to the Grand Canyon.”
Miller-Keyes added the same photo of the magnet to her own Story, too. “Pretty thankful for that place,” she added.
So, what’s the deal with the Grand Canyon? Paradise fans may remember what Unglert told Miller-Keyes when he returned to the beach after leaving. “Then I flew back to San Diego, and the entire flight back I literally could not stop thinking about you. I rented a car and drove to the Grand Canyon, and as I was there I thought about how badly I wished that you were there with me,” People reports he told her. After that, Miller-Keyes decided to leave the beach with him, and it’s been happily-ever-after since. We’re excited to see what happens with these two in the future!
