Why Blake Shelton Isn’t Planning His Wedding With Gwen Stefani
Blake Shelton is getting married, but he doesn’t seem bothered with the details of his big day. He said Gwen Stefani is mostly making the decisions. Here is why the singer isn’t planning it, and the possible timeline he gave for their wedding.
Why Blake Shelton isn’t planning his wedding with Gwen Stefani
Wedding planning is a big job. But the country singer isn’t as involved as his bride. He explained it’s because of the decisions he would make.
“If I was picking our meal, it would just literally be everything fried,” he explained to USA Today. “French fries, chicken tenders, you know, all of that stuff. I think she knows that it would be a pretty classless wedding if I was in control.”
Shelton admitted that he doesn’t make that many decisions on normal days. “I never pick my own clothes unless I’m doing one of these FaceTime calls with you, and I put on a cap and shirt,” he said. “But she picks my clothes for things like … something formal with the family. I never even pick my clothes for ‘The Voice.’ I have a girl that does that for me.”
He added, “So, nobody lets me pick clothes. That’s not a Gwen wedding thing. That’s just in general.”
Blake Shelton wants to marry Gwen Stefani soon
The singers announced their engagement in October of 2020. It sounds like the couple might get married sooner than later.
“I’m afraid if she and I wait until next November, then I’m right back into The Voice cycle again. And I really want to be able to have plenty of time before and after,” Shelton said on Today With Hoda & Jenna.
“With COVID-19, it looks like it may be OK, but I don’t know. So, that’s tentatively the plan. We’ll see,” he said.
The coaches for season 21 of The Voice have been announced. Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend will be returning. Ariana Grande will replace Nick Jonas. This season is expected to return in September 2021.
Stefani previously said she wanted to wait to have the ceremony when it was safe to have her friends and family there. That hasn’t been the case, given the coronavirus pandemic.
“I would say I just want my parents there at this point,” she told Ryan Seacrest. “My parents wouldn’t come to Thanksgiving because they were so scared (about the COVID-19 pandemic), so really would rather it not be a COVID situation. I would rather not have masks and that kind of thing.”
It sounds like Stefani and Shelton’s wedding might be more her vision to avoid some of the decisions he would make.
