Blake Shelton Opens Up About Playing With Gwen Stefani On ‘The Voice’
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are madly in love, but they are not allowing their romance to stop them from winning The Voice. The two, who fell for each other in 2015 on the hit singing competition, are competing against each other in season 17. While they are both competitive in their own way, Shelton recently opened up about what it is like playing with Stefani when the cameras are rolling.
Shelton dishes on ‘The Voice’ competition
In a new interview, Blake Shelton revealed that competing against his girlfriend is like playing a hand of cards. They both want to win and are not afraid of getting a little competitive. But when it comes to the No Doubt frontwoman, Shelton explained how she approaches the competition a little differently.
“She’s not competitive. She’ll be the first to tell you,” Shelton shared. “Right up until it gets competitive and then all of a sudden, she [really] is.”
Although things may get a little heated between the lovers, ET Online reports that Shelton would take Stefani any day over his former co-star, Adam Levine.
Levine left the show after last season to explore other projects, and this is the first time Shelton has been without his frenemy since the series started. But that does not seem to bother Shelton in the slightest.
“I’ll take this way over whatever I had with Adam,” Blake Shelton joked. “I want him to know that he can still kiss my ass wherever he is right now.”
Shelton is clearly loving the extra time with Stefani, but without Levine in a chair, he has officially become the main target.
Not only is Shelton competing against Stefani — who would like nothing more than to beat him — but he’s also going against John Legend and Kelly Clarkson, both of whom are no pushovers.
To help gain an edge over the competition, Shelton has enlisted Darius Rucker as the mentor for his team. There is no telling if the plan will pay off, but we cannot wait to see who pulls out ahead this year.
Blake Shelton almost started a fight with Stefani
Shelton and Stefani may all about the love when they are at home, but things have already gotten pretty heated between them on The Voice.
In a recent episode, the two almost got into a huge fight following a battle between contestants Destiny Raye and Katie Kadan, who wowed the coaches with a version of “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John. Legend determined that Kadan won the battle, though Shelton and Stefani both attempted to steal Raye before she got off stage.
The two proceeded to convince Raye why she should join their respective teams, which resulted in a round of epic burns.
Blake Shelton argued that Raye should pick him because he has more wins under his belt than Stefani, who answered back by saying she has had a longer career.
At the end of the day, Raye picked Stefani over Shelton, who just put his head down in defeat.
While Shelton lost the battle, it actually turned out in his favor. As Stefani pointed out later, he would have been sleeping on the couch if Raye had picked him instead.
What about those baby rumors?
With their romance stronger than ever, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have continuously faced pregnancy rumors over the past few years. The two have officially been together for four years now, and an inside source now says that having a baby might not be in the cards.
The insider claims that Shelton and Stefani have been trying to get pregnant for years without any luck. They even explored IVF treatments but determined the process would be too difficult given Stefani’s age.
If they cannot have children together, Stefani is reportedly worried that Shelton will be unhappy in the relationship.
The pair, of course, has not confirmed the pregnancy rumors. Shelton did, however, recently joke about the reports and said that they are actively looking for a surrogate. He also said that Stefani’s new line of children’s clothing at Target would be great for their twins, a comment that only sparked more rumors about a potential pregnancy.
Gwen Stefani shares three children from her previous marriage to Gavin Rossdale. Blake Shelton has been married several times now, though he has yet to father any children of his own.
Season 17 of The Voice continues Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
