‘Blue Bloods’: Is Eddie Janko Having Doubts About Her Job?
In the latest episode of “Blue Bloods,” Eddie Janko seems to be experiencing a bit of a rough patch in her journey as a New York City police officer. It seems like she might be having some doubts about her career choice. Is Eddie afraid that police work isn’t for her? Here’s what went down during the latest family dinner.
Eddie is frustrated about some parts of her job as a police officer
During the Reagan family dinner scene, Janko discusses her frustrations with the job. “It feels like a very long time since I had an outcome that felt like ‘Voilà!’” said Eddie. Jamie chimed in, saying, “Rescuing a cat from a tree type thing?” Frank also weighed in, adding, “Or reuniting a scared little kid with his family?” When Eddie says those situations are fulfilling, Frank says, “Well, see, there’s a nugget.” This causes Eddie to realize there’s always a silver lining to a tough job like police work.
Frank and Danny have some wise words for Eddie
Erin joined the dinner conversation, telling Eddie that police work isn’t always going to give you a good feeling. “We’re both in a business where no one walks away all, ‘Yes!’” said Erin. “The only victories are in making it a little less terrible for somebody,” said Frank. “And when you can truly say things could have been worse,” sometimes that’s the rush,” added Danny.
What’s causing Eddie Janko to be frustrated with her police job?
It’s possible Eddie is stepping back to evaluate her career because of the changes going on in her personal life. She just got married to Jamie, and she’s facing a whole new world of possibilities. Down the road she could become a mother in addition to a wife and police officer. Eddie might be in a reflective mode because things are changing so quickly for her. Perhaps home and family are now top of mind.
Vanessa Ray on Eddie and Jamie’s relationship
How does Ray feel about Jamie and Eddie’s relationship? The actress told “Long Island Weekly” she realizes now that Jamie and Eddie are going to have a tougher road ahead of them than they realize:
I think it’s really complicated, with myself included, as a fan of this couple. There’s a lot of learning curves and a lot of figuring out what their relationship looks like. I think it’s more of a struggle than they were anticipating. That’s something that I read a lot when I get the scripts and say, ‘Oh man, this is hard for them.’ It’s a lot harder for them than I think we all thought. They’ve loved each other for all these years, they’re finally together and now the fun begins, but it’s sort of where the real work has begun for them in terms of their relationship instead of their actual work and family unit.Vanessa Ray, Long Island Weekly
