‘Blue Bloods’ Made a Reference to Donnie Wahlberg’s Music Career and It Left Fans Wanting One Thing to Happen

Donnie Wahlberg is living a double life in a way by performing with New Kids On The Block and playing Danny Reagan on Blue Bloods. His character is a very serious detective but his love for music has slipped through the cracks.

The latest episode had a reference to his music career. Find out what it was and how fans are reacting to it.

Donnie Wahlberg still tours when he’s not filming ‘Blue Bloods’

Wahlberg is still performing with New Kids On The Block when he isn’t busy filming. He wrote about feeling lucky to do both jobs in a post on Instagram. He posted multiple pictures from his tour. He wrote in the caption:

I don’t know why the universe chose me. I don’t know why god chose me. I don’t know why the best fans in the history of music chose me (and my band mates) — to be in this amazing position — but not a moment goes by that I am not grateful. Thank you! I promise to keep giving back in every way that I can. As Always Your Man, Donnie W.

Cameron Gooding (Leon) was in the last season of Blue Bloods in the episode, “Authority Figures.” He returned again this season in the episode, “The Price You Pay.”

That’s because multiple shots were fired in his direction leaving a music venue and his driver and friend, Allen was murdered. Danny and Maria (Marisa Ramirez) were the detectives who reported to the scene.

Once again we’re reminded that Danny actually keeps up with current music. He mentions that Cameron had a feud with another artist before the shooting. However, that wasn’t related to the murder.

Danny and Maria stopped a bodyguard from killing the rapper at the end of the episode. They explained that his friend was killed out of revenge.

Danny was asked to come out on stage in the episode

Cameron decided to continue with his performance despite the murder attempt. He also wanted to dedicate the show to Allen. The performer then had another idea of how to move forward with his performance.

“You two are going out with me so I can thank you in front of everybody,” he said. “We appreciate that but we can’t. We have paperwork to do,” said Danny.

The rapper pressed, “You sure? You could help me open up. I know you know all the lyrics.” Danny turned him down again with, “In another life.”

Fans reacted to the big moment. One fan tweeted, “For half a second there, I thought @DonnieWahlberg was actually gonna get on stage during that episode of @BlueBloods_CBS and I couldn’t even process Danny trying to perform without morphing into The Captain. “In another life…” Well played!”

Another fan tweeted, “Y’all wouldn’t mind making it happen just once for us, would you? ‘Cause there’s totally a way to make it perfect…” A third fan wrote, “That would have been cool if Danny would have said yes to getting on stage. I know it would have gone against him being played as a “real” detective, but kinda would have been cool to see him.”

Fans will have to keep watching to see if Danny ever will make it to the stage. For now, it looks like he’s more comfortable off of it.
