Blue Bloods is still showing Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) trying to navigate life after losing his wife, Linda (Amy Carlson.) He was painfully reminded of her because he got a message through a medium. Now a family member is telling Danny why he should date. So who was it? Here is everything you need to know.

Henry told Danny that his home is “empty”

Danny Reagan was having a tough time in the episode, “Blues.” That’s because he shot a young man who was about to attack him with a screw driver.

After the shooting, Henry (Len Cariou) visits Danny’s home. The grandfather said that he sees Danny’s house as “empty.” When Danny pushes back saying his son is home doing his homework, Henry revealed what he really meant.

Henry said “and it’s not just the house that’s empty” referring to Danny who is still missing Linda. Danny responded with it “hasn’t been two years yet, Gramps.”

Henry said a new person could help Danny with his tough time like Linda did

Henry went back to talking about Danny dealing with this shooting. “Linda was the one who got you through those others. She also could have gotten through this one,” he said. Danny responded with “Yeah, but it wasn’t in the cards.” Henry’s advice was “so draw a new one.”

Danny did point out that Henry and Frank (Tom Selleck) didn’t remarry after they lost their wives. Instead, they have been living together for 15 years. Henry understood the point but looked sad about the fact that they have been living that way. Maybe he wants a different life for his grandson.

This conversation was foreshadowed by executive producer Kevin Wade. He told TV Insider what could bring Danny back to dating by saying:

We’ve talked about it. Part of me thinks that would be an expectation. I would certainly expect that one of the Reagan family members at some point would weigh in and say, ‘Listen, not for nothing but you’ve still got two teenage boys, and they could really use a partner around the house.’ It’s certainly a conflict for him. It’s not easy to be alone.

Danny has recently been confronting Linda being gone multiple ways. He also previously said he wasn’t ready to move on.

Danny recently turned down Molly Chavez because he wasn’t ready

It’s not like Danny hasn’t sparked some interest in other people. In the episode, “Handcuffs” he worked with Molly Chavez (Stephanie Andujar) to get her little brother out of trouble.

She did hit on Danny but saw that he was hesitant. She asked “too soon?” because he told her that he recently lost his wife. He answered, “yeah, maybe.”

That might not be the last time we see Chavez. She left Danny but said “I should let you go. But I’m not gonna let you go if you know what I mean.” Perhaps he will be more receptive to her once she tries again thanks to Henry.
