Blue Ivy Might Be Headed for a Future Career in Music — Just Like Her Parents

Beyonce and Jay-Z are individually two of the most recognizable (and richest) musicians in the world, so it may come as no surprise that at least one of their children is following in their footsteps and launching a music career of her own.

Let’s take a closer look at what we know about Blue Ivy Carter’s budding path through the music industry and what that might mean for her future.

Blue Ivy Carter will be featured on a song for Beyonce’s ‘Lion King’ album

Blue Ivy is the oldest child of the power couple, and at only seven years old, she is already a celebrity in her own right. She has been making appearances in her parents’ music since birth, and she has shown up at several red carpet events.

Fans are quick to pick up on her growing sense of style. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the tiny starlet already has her own stylist and personal shopper

While Blue Ivy has obviously been primed for a life in an inevitable spotlight, it’s still remarkable to see her creating her own music at such a young age. That’s exactly what’s happening, though. Blue Ivy is credited on the song “Brown Skin Girl” alongside her mom, Wiz Khalifa, and St. Jhn.

This album is titled The Lion King: The Gift and is Beyonce’s curated companion album for the hit film. It features such heavy hitters as Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Pharrell, and—of course—Jay-Z.

In other words, this is not some cutesy kids’ album. Blue Ivy is featured alongside serious names that are taking the hip hop world by storm, and she appears to be prepared to hold her own among the impressive crowd.

Blue Ivy also appears in music videos alongside her mom

In addition to getting writing credits on the song, Blue Ivy also appears alongside Beyonce in the videos for “Spirit” and “Bigger,” both tracks from The Gift. In the video, Blue Ivy is featured in tender shots of closeness with her mother as Beyonce sings the lyrics, “You’ve got my blood in you.”

The video draws comparisons to the royal lineage passed on from parent to child in the film, The Lion King

It would be reasonable to make the connection between another kind of passing the torch as Beyonce prepares her daughter to follow in her footsteps and become the powerful voice of a new generation.

While Blue Ivy is still very young, she certainly seems to be poised to capture the energy of her mother’s fanbase and has the potential to make a statement that’s all her own over time.

Fans are cheering the positive message

Just as Beyonce has often been championed for being a voice of empowerment, fans are excited about the positive message Blue Ivy’s song “Brown Skin Girl” sends.

Many fans are tweeting pictures of their own daughters and pointing out that the song makes them feel good about themselves and their abilities to make a difference in the world.

Adults, too, are empowered by the message to embrace their looks, citing that Beyonce and Blue Ivy told them, “there’s complexities in my complexion.”

While Blue Ivy still has a long way to go before she can catch up to either of her parents, she is well on her way to a career as an influential powerhouse who has a message to send.

She is also sure to get all of the help, support, and training she needs to do it with style. We can expect to be hearing a lot more from her in the coming years.
