Fans React to the First Episode of Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela’s HBO Series, ‘We’re Here’
There may be new episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 and Secret Celebrity Drag Race premiering on Fridays. However, HBO has its own series featuring some of the former contestants of this reality series. Here’s what fans are saying about the latest LGBTQ-centered series, We’re Here.
Shangela, Bob the Drag Queen, and Eureka O’Hara star in an HBO series
Drag Race fans might know these divas from their appearance on the show. Now, Shangela, Bob the Drag Queen, and Eureka O’Hara are taking their talents on the road, with a colorful and uplifting HBO series, titled We’re Here.
This series takes Shangela, Bob the Drag Queen, and Eureka O’Hara to a few unique towns across the United States, some more conservative than others. There, they transform locals into professional drag divas, eventually performing in a show for their families, friends, and neighbors.
“We’re focusing on small towns across America and LGBTQ stories that have this emotional journey. And through the power of drag, we’re helping to equip our drag daughters with the tools to achieve whatever they want in this moment,” Shangela said during an interview with Cosmopolitan.
“In addition to that, we have to program and produce a high-quality drag show — sometimes with bare minimum resources in the middle of nowhere,” she continued. “Try finding the right sequin fabric at the local thrift shop, OK? But we make it happen!”
The first episode of ‘We’re Here’ premiered on HBO
We’re Here is an HBO original. That means it is only available on this television network or with a subscription to HBO’s added service, HBO Go. On April 23, the first episode debuted, which more episodes to be available in the coming weeks.
This episode comes only hours before the premiere of RuPaul’s spinoff series, Secret Celebrity Drag Race, which stars alumni including Trixie Mattel, Bob the Drag Queen, and Monét X Change. Additionally, there are new episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 and Untucked premiering on a weekly basis.
For more LGBTQ content, there’s, reportedly, a special season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars coming to the premium network, Showtime. Until then, fans shared their love for the elephant queen, the winner of season 8, and the professional finalist from All-Stars 3. Halleloo.
