Bradley Cooper Reveals How Fatherhood Changed Him
Bradley Cooper is coming off of one of the biggest years of his professional career. His hit movie A Star is Born with Lady Gaga gained critical acclaim and was wildly successful with audiences. The relationship that the two portrayed on stage was so authentic that some questioned whether the two superstars were actually a couple.
But Cooper and Gaga are just friends. The Hangover star has been in a relationship with supermodel Irina Shayk since 2015 and the couple welcomed a baby girl in 2017. Cooper recently opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about how fatherhood has changed him.
Becoming a father has changed Bradley Cooper “in every way”
During a recent appearance on Ellen, the talk show host asked Cooper how fatherhood has changed him. The star opened up that becoming a father has changed him “in every way.” He joked that he is able to connect with his inner child, saying, “It allowed me to embrace my childlike self without any fear of judgment.” He added that becoming a dad allows him to play with toys all day long or “watch cartoons endlessly and not think I’m wasting my life.”
But on a more serious note, he also admitted that it has changed the way he looks at the world. He told Ellen: “The innocence is beautiful to see.” The two discussed the importance of making sure children of future generations have a world to grow up in.
In 2018, Cooper discussed fatherhood during a taping of Super Soul with Oprah Winfrey. The veteran talk show host noted that Cooper had said that having a family was a miracle. Cooper agreed, saying: “It has changed everything. Our daughter is incredible and I see my father in her quite often.”
Cooper, who lost his father in 2011, admitted that sometimes he sees his father in his daughter and that there were times that he would just look at her and say “dad?” like his father’s spirit actually lived within his daughter.
Bradley Cooper is already thinking about having more children
It’s obvious to anyone who has seen Cooper with his two-year-old daughter Lea that the star is smitten. Those close to him say that he may even be ready to add a new little rugrat to the family. A source close to Cooper said, “Bradley has been telling people that he and Irina would like to have another baby soon. He constantly is bringing up his daughter in conversations with people, often showing off photos of her.”
Whenever Cooper is asked about being a dad, he never shies to say that it has completely changed his life and worldview. While the star has not publicly spoken about adding on to his family, it’s hard to imagine that he hasn’t at least thought about it. Cooper is famously private about his family, so it’s likely the star won’t say anything about having more children unless the couple is actually expecting.
Bradley Cooper has a built-in fatherhood advantage
Sure, we know Cooper from The Hangover, A Star is Born, and American Sniper, but it’s easy to forget that he voices Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy. The star recently told Ellen that he took his daughter to Disney and they rode a Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
During the ride, the voice of Rocket played. He points and tells Lea that it’s daddy speaking. Naturally, the two-year-old gives him a confused look.
Cooper joked with Ellen that he uses the Rocket voice to talk to his daughter all the time. We can only imagine the fun that little Lea is going to have when she realizes that her father played a popular raccoon from outer space.
