Briana Culberson from ‘RHOC’ Drops a Shocking Amount of Weight Thanks to This Diet
Her mom’s BFF Tamra Judge from The Real Housewives of Orange County won’t do it. But the keto diet seems to be working wonders for Vicki Gunvalson’s daughter Briana. Briana Culberson’s husband Ryan recently featured a few photos of his wife on Instagram, where she is looking significantly slimmer.
“So proud of Briana my keto queen! It has been such a easy transition for us over the last 5 months,” Ryan posted. He also seems to be promoting the keto program as he includes a link to “Ketologic” on his Instagram profile page. In the Instagram thread, Ryan reveals Briana has lost a staggering 40 pounds in only five months on the program, which got fans and followers psyched.
Briana has battled a number of health scares
Through the years RHOC fans watched Briana deal with scary thyroid issues and also a lupus diagnosis. Briana, a registered nurse, has logged plenty of hospital time too. Most recently, her mother revealed she almost had to have her leg amputated after contracting a serious infection.
“She has lupus,” Gunvalson told Bravo’s The Daily Dish. “We almost lost her a couple years ago. That was one of the biggest fears I had in my life while I was filming; it’s my ‘Oh, my God’ moment. And she was super, super sick; got a very, very bad infectious disease from the hospital. They almost amputated her leg … she was extremely sick. Put her in City of Hope [National Medical Center] and she was there in isolation for a month. The viewers don’t know but we can share it now ’cause she survived it. But it was horrible.”
But Ryan claims the new program is helping
When one post follower asked if the program helped Briana’s Lupus, Ryan commented, “Night and day! We plan on continuing it for life because of how well she feels.” Plus he says Briana’s “rheumatologist actually recommend it for her.” And “no flare ups for 5 months now!”
He also reveals how he and Briana stay focused on the program. “Just have to commit,” he responded to one query about how to start. “Wasn’t hard at all for us.” Plus, “Especially at the beginning just focus on eating better.” But said, “We’re cheating on thanksgiving since we’re going to a family members house.”
Although he admitted there is a period in the program where you feel sick. However, he told one person who asked what he and Briana did to avoid feeling too ill. “The way we bypassed feeling sick was drinking lots of water with electrolytes and taking a good multi vitamin.”
He adds this program works without working out
Most weight loss programs incorporate fitness with healthy eating. However, Ryan asserts you can be successful with this program without the fitness component. “Haven’t lifted a weight or anything,” he responded to an Instagram question. “We figured trying to eat better was more important than throwing in multiple things and then getting frustrated and giving up.”
And that “You can still do a lazy Keto,” Ryan posted. “All you need to do is lower your carbs and sugar intake and you’ll see a big difference.” But he suggested to one Instagram follower to consult a doctor.
The keto diet is low-carb and high fat, designed to lower blood sugar and insulin levels. The reduction of carbs and fat replacement puts the body into a metabolic state called ketosis. Where the body is more efficient at burning fat for energy. Ryan’s program appears to include a special protein meal replacement drink.
