Is the British Royal Family Trying To Exile Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

Just when we thought it would die down for good, the drama surrounding the British Royal Family has only gotten more robust. As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry await the arrival of their first born child –there are now rumors that the royals are trying to exile the couple. Though Prince Harry attended Easter service and Queen Elizabeth’s birthday –it only added to the rumors of a feud between the red-headed prince and his big brother, Prince William.

Now–rumors have swirled that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to live abroad in Africa starting in 2020. Though Buckingham Palace addressed the stories –they didn’t actually refute them. So is the British Royal Family trying to exile Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moving to Africa?

On Easter Sunday, 2019 — a British Newspaper reported that the Sussexes were planning a move to Africa “for two or three years.” They suggested that one of the continent’s 19 Commonwealth states to become a new home for the family. Though Buckingham Palace released a statement saying, “no decisions have been taken about future roles” —a senior aide did tell Harper’s Bazaar that the article was “silly speculation.”

Instead, it looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might have an extended stint in one of the African Commonwealth countries for no more than six months. An insider told Harper’s Bazaar,

These discussions, which the couple are driving, are very much embryonic. Both the duke and duchess are keen to balance projects in Britain and overseas, particularly countries in Africa. There are many exciting possibilities … but moving away for years? That’s not an idea they are throwing around. We’re talking a few months away or a series of trips. Let’s not forget that they are already committed to a number of charitable projects and patronages domestically. As well as being their home, the U.K. is still somewhere they have responsibilities they wouldn’t neglect.

Is the British Royal Family trying to exile Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

When rumors of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s alleged move to Africa broke, The Sunday Times reported that Prince William and his private secretary, Simon Case were the masterminds behind the grand plan. The tabloid alleged that the goal was to contain the Sussexes extreme popularity and relieve some of the tension between the new parents and the Cambridges.

Though there has been some tension between Prince Harry and Prince William –rumors of an exile are simply laughable. A Kensington Palace insider told The Times, “Prince William has nothing to do with these plans. The Duke supports whatever the couple chooses to do.” Meanwhile, a close friend of the Sussexes added,

Let’s be clear about one thing: Any decision the couple make about their future will be made by themselves for themselves. Harry and Meghan have always wanted to reach people on a global level and that is the only thing that’s motivating them. Aside from the Queen and Prince Charles, they’re not looking to other family members, or their teams, for guidance.

Right now we’re pretty sure Markle and Prince Harry are just focused on the safe and healthy arrival of their baby.
