The British Royal Family Is Phasing Out the Yorks After Princess Beatrice’s Wedding, Expert Says
Princess Beatrice’s surprise royal wedding on July 17 was a stunning affair. Though the Princess of York and her husband, Italian property developer Edo Mapelli Mozzi, had initially planned to tie the knot on May 29 in front of hundreds of friends and loved ones, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic greatly altered their plans.
Instead, the duo wed in front of their parents and siblings as well as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge. In the official photos from the ceremony, the smiling couple is posed alone and then with the queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Princess Beatrice’s wedding came amid her father, Prince Andrew’s scandalous connection to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and a troubling BBC News Night interview. Now that both the princess and her sister, Princess Eugenie, are married, the royals may be looking to phase the York family out altogether.
Prince Charles has been wanting to slim down the royal family
With Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry’s exit and Prince Andrew’s ousting from royal life, Prince Charles and the Cambridges have been working to revamp the royal family’s image. ITV Royal Editor Camilla Tominey believes that are working to appear, “relatable” and “touchable” instead of “cut off and cold.”
Prince Charles, who has always disliked the bulky structure of the royal family, could be using this as a time to focus on the queen, himself, and Prince William.
“Many Royal Family fans were surprised to learn that Harry and Meghan Markle were withdrawing from royal life,” The Talko reported. “But the truth is that the number of active family members has been decreasing and that might not be a coincidence. Of course, this would increase the workload for those who remain but it would allow for less drama, less opportunity for scandals and create a more streamlined monarchy.”
The British royal family cannot handle any more drama
With Meghan revealing the hardships she incurred as a senior working member of the royal family in her privacy lawsuit against Mail on Sunday and the arrest of Epstein’s former girlfriend and confidant, Ghislaine Maxwell, the royals cannot handle any more drama.
In fact, it already appears that the royals are bracing themselves for the Duke of York’s complete and total downfall. Recently, the royal staff even deleted Prince Andrew’s royal website.
His former website now links back to the royal family site (royal.uk). His Instagram and Twitter accounts remain online, but they are both inactive.
The royal family might be phasing out the Yorks amid Prince Andrew’s scandal
Due to the duke’s scandal, neither he nor his ex-wife, Sarah Duchess of York were pictured in their daughter, Princess Beatrice’s official wedding photos. One royal expert believes this was the Yorks’ last stance.
“From the moment they first became aware of Donald Trump’s MLAT request for Prince Andrew to give evidence in the Epstein case as a material witness, the palace started to phase out the Yorks,” royal biography Nigel Cawthorne told Express.
The princess’s website pages have also been removed. Thankfully, Princess Beatrice didn’t let any of this ruin her big day. “For Beatrice, all the chopping and changing since her engagement was announced in September must have been a disappointment, but she seems a matter-of-fact person like her mother and clearly did not let it interfere with her happiness,” Cawthorne said.
