BTS’s 2019 Melon Music Awards Performance Will Highlight Each Member and ARMY Thinks Comeback Teasers Are Near

‘Tis the season for BTS‘s end-of-the-year performances. And boy, is it sweet. The K-pop group — including the seven members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — are set to attend the Jingle Ball in Los Angeles on Dec. 6 and MAMA 2019 in Japan on Dec. 3. Now, BTS has confirmed their performance at the 2019 Melon Music Awards (MMA 2019), held on Nov. 30 in Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome. So of course, ARMY is already predicting BTS comeback concepts that could potentially pop up on the award show stage.

BTS to attend and perform at the 2019 Melon Music Awards on Nov. 22

Within the past few weeks, Melon, a music streaming service owned by the South Korean entertainment company Kakao M, teased the attendance of BTS at the 2019 Melon Music Awards. And on Oct. 14, MMA released their first “Coming Soon” teaser, revealing the award show will begin airing on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. KST. MMA 2019 will also be available to watch via livestream on KakaoTalk, Melon, 1theK, KakaoTV, Daum, and other media partners, according to Soompi.

Then on Nov. 12, the Melon Music Awards confirmed BTS’s performance via Twitter. Meanwhile, Newsen announced a few more details in regards to the BTS stage at MMA 2019. And it seems the boys have cooked up something special for fans around the world, including a spotlight on each of the seven members.

“This year as well, @BTS_twt will deliver a special performance at the 2019 MMA for its global fans,” one fan on Twitter explained. “The performance will feature a concept that highlights seven members’ characteristics.”

BTS fans react to the 2019 Melon Music Awards announcement

Naturally, the announcement of the BTS performance at the MMAs met with a flood of excited comments on social media. The 2018 performance at the award show was a full 20-minute set showcasing phenomenal vocals and visuals to “Fake Love,” “Airplane Pt. 2,” and “Idol.” And ARMY is prepared for BTS to top their previous performance in their upcoming 2019 stage.

Melon had their best stage last year, so I’m really looking forward to this year,” one Reddit user wrote. “Strange to think it’s only a couple weeks away, award season is rolling in fast.”

Their MMA stages are always the absolute best, can’t wait,” another user wrote. “Last year is still one of the best performances I’ve ever seen, period. Don’t know how they can even top it but I have faith in them to blow us away yet again.”

Meanwhile, many fans reminded others of the time difference. The 2019 MMAs start airing at 7 p.m. KST, which converts to 5 a.m. ET and 2 a.m. PT. So U.S. ARMY will suffer together to watch the MMA 2019 livestream on Nov. 20.

“Can’t wait for 3-4 hours of red carpet photos, fancams, and gratuitous shots of Bangtan in the audience that are concluded with 10 minutes of a collective meltdown over their performance as we ride out a sleep deprivation induced high,” a Redditor wrote. “Also thank you to MMA for actually holding the ceremony on a weekend.”

But fans know the sacrifice will be worth it. “Personally I won’t even mind if they don’t ‘top’ last year’s performance,” a fan wrote. “It’s BTS and there are no bad shows! I’m just so happy that we’ll get to see BTS in their element; they really shine in these Korean award shows. Super duper EXCITED to wake up at an ungodly hour!!!!”

Aside from the general excitement surrounding BTS’s 2019 MMA announcement, many fans began theorizing which songs the septet will perform. Plenty of clever fans also hypothesized what BTS’s Melon Music Awards VCR will look like this year.

BTS’ highlight reel before their MMA performance is about to be a fckin flex,” one Twitter user wrote. “It’s about to show them on stage at the Grammys, them performing at their stadiums, their BBMA Top Group moment and just a role call of their records, charting and sales.”

ARMY also couldn’t help but play around with the idea of each BTS member being individually highlighted in the performance. And some seemed to take it as a solo song.

“They don’t have new solo songs except for Namjoon. So…what does this mean?” one fan wrote on Reddit. “P. S. If Persona is performed I will combust.”

“Does that means solo songs? Should I be hopeful for a off-shoulder-Seesaw comeback?” another fan proposed.

Meanwhile, other BTS fans imagined new concepts for the stage that will make you beg for more.

“‘BTS performance for mma will feature a concept that highlights 7 members’ characteristics,'” a fan wrote. “Bighit stop being a coward and go for that seven deadly sins concept.”

But of course, members of ARMY are anticipating hints at the next BTS comeback, which is rumored to be titled Shadow.

“So dance line will show off dancing? Rap line will show off rapping? and vocal line, singing?” a Redditor wondered about the BTS MMA performance. “Or is it maybe a Shadow thing?”

“BTS’ MMA performance means comeback hints for sure,” another fan tweeted. “I’m excited to see what they have planned, especially since it’s known they’ll do a performance to highlight each members characteristics. My interest is PEAKED.”
