Fans Suspect BTS and Becky G Collaboration Following J-Hope’s Important Business in the U.S.

After BTS’s epic collaboration with Halsey for “Boy With Luv,” fans have been itching to find out who the K-pop group will work with next. Throughout months of touring, media outlets have been asking the boys — members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — who they want to collab with in the future. And one name that popped up time and time again was Becky G. But will BTS and Becky G actually collab? Here is what ARMY thinks now that the two music artists are following each other on Twitter.

J-Hope flies to the U.S. for “important businessu” in August

Before we delve into what’s happening right now, let’s recap. On Aug. 12, Big Hit Entertainment revealed BTS would be taking an extended period of rest.

“This period of rest will be an opportunity for the members of BTS, who have relentless driven themselves towards their goal since their debut, to recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators,” the company wrote in a statement posted on Twitter. Big Hit also explained the boys were taking time to “rest and recharge.” They then noted fans should respect their private time off.

Nevertheless, on Aug. 19, J-Hope was spotted at Incheon International Airport, reportedly headed to Los Angeles for an undisclosed overseas promotion. Naturally, as J-Hope flew to the U.S. alone for promotional purposes, fans were dying to find out why.

“Hobiiii,” a fan wrote on Weverse. “I know it’s a secret, but what are you doing in America???” And while the comment could have easily been ignored, J-Hope responded. “Sorry, important businesssu,” he teased.

Of course, J-Hope’s “businesssu” comment was referencing the “Daydream” singer’s now-famous line in Bon Voyage, where he declined fan photos to preserve secrecy. So, J-Hope is clearly in on the joke. Nevertheless, the comment only caused fans to become more suspicious.

Becky G teases BTS collab

Prior to J-Hope’s visit to the U.S., Becky G opened up about meeting BTS at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. While speaking with iHeart Radio’s Lulu y Lala on June 15, the “Dollar” singer admitted there could be a potential collab in their future.

“I don’t want to say too much,” Becky G said. “We might have a little something-something and we definitely connected.” She then touched on the evolving music industry when it comes to collaborations. “It’s such a special moment where there are no such things as boxes, no such things as walls. We’re just collaborating all different types of genres,” she said. “We’re just mixing it up.”

The radio hosts then asked when fans can expect the BTS and Becky G to be released. However, the singer remained coy. “When we get to it,” she explained. “You know, it’s hard. They’re obviously very successful and they work their butts off. So hopefully, when things line up — timing-wise — it’ll happen.”

But, has it already happened? Members of ARMY certainly think so. A day after J-Hope arrived in LA, Becky G posted a video of Korean snacks, feeding into the theory.

“HOSEOK IS IN LA AND BECKY G POSTED THIS VIDEO OF KOREAN SNACKS ON HER MV FILMING SET,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “AND SHE ALSO HINTED A SECRET COLLAB WITH BTS. YALL THINK THIS MEANS??”

BTS and Becky G are now mutually following each other on social media

Although J-Hope’s time in LA and Becky G’s social media post could have been purely coincidental, one more piece to the puzzle has appeared. On Sept. 25, Becky G and BTS mutually followed each other on Twitter. And of course, fans saw the act on social media as a sign.

“OMG BECKY G FOLLOWED BTS ON TWITTER,” a fan shared with a screenshot of the mutuals. “ITS COMING.”

“It’s now been 20 days ever since Hobi told us to hang in there because everyone will be surprised and now BTS and Becky G just followed each other,” another fan tweeted, adding a GIF in excitement.

“ITS HAPPENING BTS AND BECKY G ARE NOW FOLLOWING EACH OTHER YALL SOMETHING BOUT TO DROP,” a Twitter user wrote. “LATINX ARMYS OUR TIME HAS COME.”

As of now, neither Becky G nor BTS has confirmed a collaboration. So fans will just have to wait and see what happens next. But hopefully, ARMY learns what J-Hope’s important business was alluding to — because the suspense is killing us.
