BTS Was Just On ‘Empire’ But Not In The Way You’d Expect
Who doesn’t adore the K-Pop boy band, BTS? Though the seven-member group has been around since 2013 — their fame has absolutely exploded across the globe in the past couple of years making them a household name.
In addition to their stellar singles, iconic collabs, and unique style — Jungkook, Jin, V, RM, Suga, J-Hope, and Jimin have also shown so much love to their fans –the BTS ARMY. This has only heightened the hoopla surrounding them.
Now, BTS has become so entrinched into American popular culture that they’ve just appeared on the mega popular music show, Empire, but it’s not exactly what you think.
BTS just had a “cameo” on ‘Empire’
Though they were on hiatus just before fall — BTS has been working non-stop since their return to the spotlight in October 2019. The band has been teasing their next album, releasing solo singles, and they are set to perform in Time’s Square for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2020, However, their pseudo appearance on Empire has got the ARMY buzzing.
On a Dec. 17 episode of Empire titled, “Cold Cold Man,” BTS look-alikes appeared in the audience of Empire’s Grammy-type show. There was also a fake Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj in the audience.
Since Fox couldn’t snag the real BTS — because they are booked and busy, they simply hired a group of lookalikes with multicolored hair.
The BTS ARMY is obsessed with their fake ‘Empire’ appearance
Obviously having the real BTS would have been exceptional, but the ARMY is living for and obsessing over this look-alike cameo. “Girl does empire have a fake bts in the crowd?!!! IM CRYINGGGGG,” one fan tweeted. “#Empire Was that a BTS knock off I just saw?? Lol,” another added.
One fan asked the question that we’ve all been wondering and it has to do with the actor that was cast to play Jungkook. They tweeted, “Is he supposed to be jungkook or Severus snape, I’m confused”
Though the casting was alarming, to say the least, most of the ARMY was thrilled about the appearance in general. “So they did a piss poor job of getting actual look-alikes but the fact that a bunch of writers sitting around the table of a semi-popular US show, even made the decision that needed BTS at their award show along the other stars they put in. Shows we have come along way, I think,” a BTS ARMY member said.
This is how the ARMY knew ‘Empire’ was trying to shoutout BTS
If you aren’t a real BTS fan you might have assumed the BTS “cameo” was just any random K-Pop group. However, the Empire writers made sure the ARMY knew they were talking about Jungkook, Jin, V, RM, Suga, J-Hope, and Jimin.
Apparently, BTS whispers to one another at events so Empire made sure to add in that detail.. “Bruh… I always find it funny when idols especially BTS whisper so close to each other at award shows empire really noticed it too huh? I’ll them a C for effort because that is actually a pretty good detail,” one fan said.
Let’s just hope next time the actual BTS appears on Empire.
