BTS is currently on hiatus and all seven members seem to be enjoying their vacation. When Big Hit Entertainment announced BTS’s extended break, the company asked for fans to respect the men’s privacy. Despite this request, some individuals posted photos and videos of Jimin while he vacationed in Paris. This led to members of BTS ARMY trending the hashtag #WeLoveYouJimin as an apology.

Big Hit Entertainment asked fans to leave BTS members alone in public

This is BTS’s first extended break since their debut in 2013. The group toured for almost an entire year straight with the Love Yourself World Tour and the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour. BTS also released multiple albums and held their 5th Muster celebration. The break is well-earned and deserved.

In Big Hit Entertainment’s announcement, the company told fans the break would give BTS members a chance to live as normal of a life as possible.

“This will also provide them with a chance to enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in their 20s, albeit briefly,” the announcement read

To allow BTS to enjoy their private time, Big Hit Entertainment also asked fans to leave the men alone if they ever encountered them in public.

“Should you have a chance encounter with a member of BTS while they are on vacation, we ask that you show consideration for their need to rest and enjoy their private time off,” Big Hit Entertainment wrote

BTS is one of the biggest musical acts in the world. Because of their worldwide popularity, their ability to enjoy time off is dependent on how fans behave when seeing them in public. Unfortunately, it only takes one person to set off a chain reaction about a celebrity’s location.

People took pictures and videos of Jimin in Paris while he was on vacation

Despite Big Hit Entertainment’s request, someone posted photos of Jimin vacationing in Paris. The photos spread throughout Twitter. Celebrity sighting accounts tweeted the photos and alerted more fans of Jimin’s location. As this went on, members of ARMY requested accounts to delete the photos.

The situation escalated more when someone posted a video of Jimin in a club in Paris. The video of the singer was blurry and he quickly covered his face. Even after the person deleted the video from their Instagram, the video spread throughout social media.

While a majority of fans were angry at Jimin’s privacy being invaded, others did not like the idea of Jimin going to a club. Fans were quick to point out ARMY is not entitled to Jimin’s private life.

After Jimin posted a video from Paris for Jungkook’s birthday, BTS fans requested for people to leave Jimin alone.

“Now that jimin showed us that he’s really in paris, DO NOT EVER TRY TO FIND HIM. If you ever encounter him there, all you have to do is to close your eyes and pretend you don’t know him,” wrote a Twitter user

Instead, someone released another photo of Jimin on vacation. The picture sparked a debate among fans as some tried to paint Jimin as problematic. While most of the images and videos of Jimin on vacation were deleted, some are still circling around social media. To respect Jimin’s privacy and Big Hit Entertainment’s wishes, those photos and videos will not be reshared.

BTS fans jumped to Jimin’s defense and apologized

BTS has one of the largest global fandoms in the world. When ARMY felt Jimin had been disrespected, they jumped to his defense.

“bts deserves privacy, each members deserves a privacy and let them enjoy their vacation, they’re having their free time and enjoying their vacation especially jimin, can we respect that? like, can we?? leave jimin alone, he deserve to have fun. PRIVACY. RESPECT,” wrote a member of ARMY

“The lengths of desperation you fools will go to, to try and ‘cancel’ BTS is just mind boggling. Aren’t y’all tired? I saw that photo and I’m just floored at some of the accusations about it,” wrote a Twitter user

“I long for the day when Jimin stops being attacked, judged, mistreated, underestimated, belittled, accused and defamed by people with no purpose in their lives but to spread hate and violence This angel deserves so much better,” wrote another

At the end of the day, Jimin is 23 years old and happens to have a high-profile job. While fans have access to BTS’s music, concerts, and public social media accounts, they are not entitled to any of the members’ private lives. Luckily for BTS, it seems most of their fans understand that. The hashtag #WeLoveYouJimin already has hundreds of thousands of tweets, letting Jimin know his fans respect him.
