BTS keeps breaking records, and some fans are predicting the group will be nominated at next year’s Grammy Awards. The group is one of the biggest music acts in the world, and based on their accomplishments there is no question they fit the criteria. Nominations are not announced until Nov. 20, and fans are hopeful BTS’s recent EP Map of the Soul: Persona will be nominated for Album of the Year.

Big Hit Entertainment and Columbia Records submitted ‘Map of the Soul: Persona’ for Album of the Year

A recent print edition of Billboard Magazine featured a 2020 Grammy Preview. In the preview, BTS’s EP Map of the Soul: Persona was included as an Album of the Year contender. BTS fans realized this means Big Hit Entertainment and Columbia Records submitted the EP for consideration for the award.

“The 2020 Grammy Preview edition of Billboard magazine. This is Big Hit & Columbia publicly acknowledging that they’re submitting Map of the Soul: Persona for Album of the Year,” wrote a Twitter user.

The preview lists out the accomplishments BTS achieved with Map of the Soul: Persona. BTS sold out multiple stadiums in the U.S. This resulted in BTS having the highest-grossing tour of May 2019.

The lead single from the album, “Boy With Luv” went platinum in the U.S. The music video also broke a YouTube record of having the most views in 24 hours. Even more impressive, Map of the Soul: Persona debuted No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This accomplishment made BTS the first group since the Beatles to have three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart in less than a year.

“I’m so proud of BTS and BH and Columbia too for submitting Mots:P for Grammy Album of the Year. No matter what happens, you get nothing if you don’t put yourself out there. And it’s great to know the labels believe in them and their work and are campaigning for them,” a fan tweeted.

BTS attended the Grammys in 2019

BTS was nominated at the 2019 Grammy Awards for Best Recording Package for their album Love Yourself: Tear. The group also presented at the awards show, becoming the first-ever Korean act to present an award at the Grammys. Even though BTS did not win in their nominated category that night, the group still received widespread media attention for their history-making appearance. A few months later, BTS was invited to join the Recording Academy.

“that time BTS got invited to the grammy photoshoot even though the photoshoot was only meant for Grammy winners. you see, before BTS have even won they’re already winners! cant wait to see them here next year hopefully with awards,” a fan tweeted.

ARMY is hopeful about BTS’s chances of winning a Grammy

BTS broke multiple records with Map of the Soul: Persona. The group also won two Billboard Music Awards in 2019. While nominations are not announced until November, BTS fans are hopeful about the group’s chances.

“the day bts win a grammy, we’d probably trend keyboard smashes,” one fan joked.

Despite their success, BTS still faces xenophobia outside of South Korea. Some Western awards shows and radio stations do not treat BTS the same as other artists because they are Korean. BTS fans are hopeful and determined that BTS will prove naysayers wrong when the 2020 Grammys come around.

“mark your calendars, armys. on january 26, 2020, we will hear ‘the Grammy-award goes to.. BTS!!’ for the very first time after all what we and our boys have gone through the hands of this xenophobic society. WE WILL MAKE IT. BTS WILL MAKE IT,” a fan wrote on Twitter.
