On Nov. 1, BTS released an EDM remix of “Make It Right feat. Lauv.” The collaboration with Lauv is a new version of BTS’s original song “Make It Right,” which is from BTS’s EP, Map of the Soul: Persona. The new EDM remix released just a few weeks after the collaboration.

BTS collaborated with Lauv on ‘Make It Right’

BTS released Map of the Soul: Persona in April 2019. “Boy With Luv” was the lead single for the EP. On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, BTS performed “Boy With Luv” for the show’s broadcast and “Make It Right” for the show’s YouTube channel. BTS also performed “Make It Right” during their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour.

In October 2019, BTS and Lauv released their collaboration of “Make It Right.” The new version of “Make It Right” also included a music video. The music video featured an animated story as well as tour footage from the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour.

ARMY loves the ‘Make It Right’ remix

After the EDM remix of “Make It Right” dropped, BTS fans posted about the song on social media. ARMY praised the song with the hashtag #MakeItRightEDMRemix on Twitter. Fans also encouraged each other to buy and stream the song.

“How does a song keep getting better and better? I LOVE IT!! #MakeItRightEDMRemix,” a fan tweeted.

“make it right is the song of the year by the artist of the year in the album of the year #MakeItRightEDMRemix,” wrote a Twitter user.

“the remix slaps, the beat is very chilling and groovy. i love the part where the beat built up after yoongi’s verse and suddenly it drops then yoongi says “알아” in a very deep voice #MakeItRightEDMRemix,” one fan tweeted.

The collaboration and remix of ‘Make It Right’ has been successful

When BTS released “Make It Right feat. Lauv,” the song reached the No.1 spot on the U.S. iTunes chart. With this accomplishment, “Make It Right feat. Lauv” became the fifth BTS song to reach the No.1 spot on the chart. BTS also became the first Korean act to have five No.1 songs on the U.S. iTunes chart.

After releasing the EDM remix of “Make It Right,” the song received 271,015 Spotify streams on its first day. While the EDM remix did not reach the No.1 spot on the U.S. iTunes chart, it did reach the No.1 spot in 22 countries. The non-EDM version reached the No.1 spot in 65 countries, the No.76 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and the No.38 spot on the Spotify Global Top 200.

‘Make It Right’ shakes up BTS’s normal promotion

For months, BTS fans have suspected a comeback as BTS typically releases multiple albums per year. As October passed and BTS released “Make It Right feat. Lauv,” some fans began to wonder if BTS would not release a new album in 2019. With BTS campaigning heavily for a Grammy nomination, releasing multiple versions of “Make It Right” puts the focus back on Map of the Soul: Persona.

“The re-release isn’t just fan service or a fun extra push, it’s a very intelligent move for all involved, especially BTS, even if it goes against their usual way of doing things,” wrote Hugh McIntyre in Forbes.
