Cameron Diaz Skips Baby Food for Daughter Raddix, Feeds Her Bone Marrow and Liver Instead
Celebrities are notorious for their unorthodox parenting approaches, and it turns out Cameron Diaz is no different. She and Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden shocked the world when they announced the arrival of their daughter, Raddix, in Jan. 2020. No one even realized Diaz was pregnant.
The couple is notoriously private with their only child and refuse to share photos of her with the public. But recently, Diaz told Rachael Ray that she has some unique tactics when it comes to preparing Raddix’s meals.
Cameron Diaz said her daughter is the ‘best thing that ever happened’
These days Diaz is retired from making movies. However, between 1994 and 2014 she was one of the most prolific and well-known Hollywood celebrities in the world. The Charlie’s Angels alum was nominated for three Golden Globes and dozens of other awards. She also became one of the highest paid actors in the business.
However, Diaz made a major change of life by quitting the movies just before her wedding to Madden. Then she became a mom at 47 and couldn’t be happier about it. “It’s been heaven, Jimmy,” she told Jimmy Fallon while discussing how quickly time was flying since becoming a mother.
“But it’s so gratifying to actually get to see that growth and to be a part of it,” she went on. “It’s just amazing. [Parenthood] is the best thing that ever happened to both Benj and I. We’re just so happy.”
She’s been feeding her daughter real food instead of baby food
Diaz and Madden are spending a lot of time at home with Raddix during the global pandemic and that’s just how they like it. One hobby the Bad Teacher star is enjoying lately is cooking, especially for her daughter. And she’s not feeding the 11-month-old any traditional baby food.
“She never had a puree,” Diaz said during her interview on The Rachael Ray Show. “She’s had garlic from day one. She eats bone marrow and she eats liver.” The culinary enthusiast continued, discussing all the ways she spices up Raddix’s meals. “I put herbs in everything — thyme and dill, sage, everything. She just loves all of it.”
Ray was very supportive of this tactic of skipping baby food. “I love that you’re making her food so you can really strengthen her palate,” the Food Network star gushed. “I hate it when people dumb down their kids’ food.”
Cameron Diaz shows off her cooking skills on Instagram
The former actor is taking advantage of being quarantined with a baby by spending more time in the kitchen. Diaz won’t share any photos of her daughter there, but she’s more than happy to post videos of herself cooking up a storm, including the unique meals she’s making for the baby.
“The first four months [of quarantine] I cooked every single meal,” she told Ray. “For the most part I am cooking all our meals … I love to cook, it’s my love language. I love to cook for my husband, I love to cook for my child now; being able to make the food for her has been incredible.”
It sounds like Diaz is really making the most of 2020 and expanding Raddix’s palate in the process.
