Can Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie Be Friends Now That They’ve Both Divorced Brad Pitt?

First, there was Brad Pitt and Jen Aniston — commonly known as Brad and Jen — and fans were in love. You could barely make a more perfect A-list couple if you had created them in a lab.

But then, something shifted. Pitt changed course and soon “Brangelina” popped onto the scene, setting the stage for a feud on scales large and small. Fans ran to buy shirts supporting either Team Jen or Team Angelina.

Many fans never gave up hope that somehow the tides would turn, as Pitt and Jolie kept making headlines for their travels and adoptions. Now that years have passed since Pitt divorced not only Aniston but Jolie as well, is there a chance that the two women could ever become friends?

In 1998, while Aniston was still at the height of her Friends stardom and Pitt was pumping out hit movies, the couple began to date. They soon became America’s sweethearts.

Their relationship progressed with very little drama and soon the two tied the knot at a lavish Malibu wedding on July 29, 2000. A year into the marriage, things seemed to be nothing but marital bliss with Aniston telling Rolling Stone: “You’re there for the long haul. It’s a beautiful thing to actually realize that for the first time, to have that knowing. It takes the heat and the weight out of things.”

The two did certainly seemed to be in for the long haul and on the way to a fuller family. Aniston told The Guardian in an interview in February of 2004: “It’s time. It’s time. You know, I think you can work with a baby, I think you can work pregnant, I think you can do all of it. So I’m just truly looking forward to slowing down.”

Unfortunately, as we all know now, that was a future that was never going to be and it all came crashing down just a few months later.

Though they initially denied the rumors, it later came to light that Pitt and Jolie started to fall for each other during the filming of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in May of 2004. Aniston and Pitt split officially in early 2005 and “Brangelina” and the media weren’t kind to Jen, or very considerate of her feelings on the matter.

In July of 2005, W Magazine released the photo series “Domestic Bliss” picturing Pitt and Jolie’s idealized life at home, months before Pitt and Aniston’s divorce was finalized in October of that year. One photo seemed to predict Pitt and Jolie’s future, as it depicted them with a brood of 5 children at a dinner table.

The couple later went on to have a total of 6 children together: three via adoption and three by birth. The first of their birth children was conceived just a few months after the divorce.

Pitt and Jolie didn’t officially tie the knot until August of 2014 but the marriage was shorter-lived than their relationship and ended in divorce just two years later. The custody of their children is still under negotiations.

How do Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Aniston get along now?

Aniston has since forgiven Pitt for his indiscretion and the tabloids, as well as fans, have begun to see some renewed hope of the return this once-loved couple. Pitt was in attendance at Aniston’s 50th birthday party, as well as her intimate holiday party. For now, the two maintain that they are just good friends, but only time will tell.

So what about Aniston and Jolie? It may surprise some to learn that there was never much interaction between them. Aniston told Vanity Fair in a 2005 interview that she had only ever met Jolie briefly before the filming of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. She said: “Brad is so excited about working with you. I hope you guys have a really good time.”

Though Aniston is a forgiving person and may hold no ill will towards Jolie, it would be doubtful that the two will ever become friends now or in the future, especially not while Aniston is friends with Pitt.
