From ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ to ‘Hamilton’ — Here Are the Most Patriotic Films to Watch on Disney+ This 4th of July Weekend

Whether you’re social distancing this Fourth of July weekend or just looking for a movie to watch with the family, Disney’s streaming platform has plenty of content available to subscribers. From Captain America: Winter Soldier to National Treasure, here are a few patriotic movies available for binge-watching on Disney+.

‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier’

Throughout multiple Marvel films, viewers see Captain America stand up for what he believes in, whether that be fighting Hydra or teaming up with the Avengers to defeat Thanos during Avengers: Endgame. 

Captain America: The First Avenger is the first movie featuring the brave and kind character, Steve Rogers. It is available on the Disney+ streaming library, as well as other movies and television shows created by Marvel.

As one of the newest additions to the Disney+ streaming library, a live stage production of Hamilton, featuring the original cast, becomes available for binge-watching starting on July 3, just in time for Fourth of July weekend. 

This musical tells the story of how America came to be, primarily focusing on the story of Alexander Hamilton. Since its debut on Broadway, this musical earned a number of Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Thanks to Disney+, this will be the first time it’s available to watch on a streaming platform. 

‘National Treasure’ 

What happens when you steal the Declaration of Independence? Find out from Benjamin Franklin Gates, who goes on to find a hidden treasure dating back decades. National Treasure is full of adventure and excitement, featuring some of the most famous artifacts in American history. Thanks to Disney’s streaming platform, this movie is available for binge-watching.

‘America’s Heart & Soul’ 

Originally released during 2004, this documentary tells the story of life in America, from inside churches to the streets of cities. America’s Heart & Soul is a “celebration of a nation told through the voices of those at its heart,” and is available on Disney’s streaming platform.  

‘Diary of a Future President’

Okay, technically this isn’t a movie. However, this Disney+ original series still garners recognition, especially in light of Fourth of July weekend. Diary of a Future President, tells the story of middle school student Elena Cañero-Reed, as she navigates school, friends, and family troubles. 

Viewers learn that it’s these struggles that eventually lead to her becoming the first female president of the United States. The entire first season of this comedy series is available on Disney+.
