Captain Lee Rosbach from ‘Below Deck’ Suffers Heartbreaking Loss

Captain Lee Rosbach from Below Deck and his wife Mary Anne have suffered a tragic loss. The couple’s son Joshua has died at age 42 on July 22 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The family shared a loving tribute and memorial video that chronicled Joshua’s life and his love of the ocean. In his tribute memorial, the family remembered a loving son who also had a significant fondness for animals. The family asked for donations to the Humane Society of Broward County in lieu of flowers.

According to his memorial, Joshua passed away at home. Rosbach and his family memorialized Joshua on Saturday, July 27 in South Florida.

Remembered as a ‘gentle and kind soul’

In the tribute, Joshua was remembered as a “gentle and kind soul.” He was also, “Loved by everyone he came into contact with and never met a stranger.”

“His smile, and although quiet personality were traits that people admired. But the simple things in life were exciting too, especially when he worked hard to buy his first home where he enjoyed spending quality time with his ‘Fur ever buddy and protector’ Champ,” the memorial tribute continued.

Rosbach has posted about the family’s dogs on Instagram in the past. So clearly the entire family has a love for their pets. A photo of Josh and his dog are featured in the memorial video. “Josh and Sammy may they both rest in peace,” is captioned.

He followed in his father’s footsteps

The family also featured a sweet photo of Josh and his mother. “Josh and his mom, the bond between mother and son is forever.” Josh is also featured in a number of photos with other family members too during happier times.

Rosbach has previously shared with fans that some of his children were also in yachting. “Josh followed his father’s love for the ocean, whether it was sail boating or First Mate aboard a Yacht,” according to his memorial tribute. “As a son, he was everything to his father and mother. He was a good brother and he loved the precious times they spent together.”

Although Rosbach has not publicly commented about his son’s death, friend and chief stew Kate Chastain recently returned to Florida from New York City. She posted about traveling back to Florida on Twitter. She too did not comment about whether or not she was returning for the memorial.

Rosbach wants his children to be happy

In a previous interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Rosbach talked about his hopes for his five children. “I guess it’s sitting back and just watching the evolution take place,” he said. “You know, going through the whole process. You know, watching the mistakes that they make and trying to prevent all of them, even though you know you can’t.”

He added, “And just trying to help them get on their way in a proper fashion so that they become good people and happy. That’s all that you want for your kids; you want them to become good people and happy people. And you do whatever it is you can to facilitate that.”
