Inside Cardi B’s $48,000 Gift to Kulture

Cardi B is in the headlines once again, but this time it has nothing to do with her record-breaking music. The “Up” rapper’s recent Instagram post with her 3-year-old daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus, has fans talking about her daily spending habits. The post revealed that in light of her little girl’s birthday, Cardi continues to match their luxury customized styles, by gifting her a second Birkin bag that ended up costing $48,000.

What inspired the rainbow-designed Birkin gift?

The Grammy award-winning rapper said the inspiration for the customized rainbow bag came directly from Kulture’s personal preference.

Michelle Berk, CEO of Privé Porter, a private reseller of luxury handbags specializing in Hermès products, told Page Six the muse behind the custom gift came right out of their local mall.

“Cardi and Kulture were at Claire’s, of all places. Kulture saw a small bag with a rainbow and started begging for it,” Berk explained. “In typical Cardi way, she didn’t get that bag, but she called me instead to try to replicate that rainbow on a Birkin for Kulture.”

This past Tuesday, Cardi B shared an Instagram carousel of her and Kulture matching with not only colors but expensive swag too. She captioned the post, “Me & my best friend for life.”

As you swipe left, you’ll see Kulture sitting on the floor in a yellow outfit (which matches her mom’s hair and shoes) and coincidentally matches the new bag. Covered in colorful Swarovski crystals made into a rainbow form, the bedazzled purse seems to fit her persona perfectly.

How many Birkin bags does Kulture have?

This custom rainbow bag is actually Kulture’s second Birkin, as she received her first—a small, pink style— from her dad, 29-year-old Migos rapper Offset, for her second birthday. “I’m not mad that Daddy bought baby a Birkin,” Cardi B previously said, reports Insider. “She’s gonna match Mommy.”

In addition to her latest bags and her Minnie Mouse necklace, the couple just recently threw a lavish birthday party for Kulture when she turned three. The bash included a petting zoo, a balloon tunnel, bowling lanes, a ball pit, and more.

Why does Cardi spend so much money on Kulture?

Since this isn’t the first time that Cardi’s experienced backlash from fans about the money she spends, she doesn’t let it phase her or her household as she did in the past.

Last year when Offest purchased Kulture her first bag, Cardi B responded to the critics genuine “concern” via Instagram story, saying: “When celebrities buy their kids jewelry and designer s–t, people be like, ‘Kids don’t care about that. They only care about toys and candy.’ Yeah, kids only care about toys and candy, but the thing is, the kids also go outside. You know what I’m saying? Kids go to restaurants, kids go to fancy places, celebrity kids, they go do red carpets. And if I’m fly and daddy’s fly, then so is the kid. If I was looking like a bad b—h, expensive b—h, and I had my kid looking like a bum-bum, then y’all would talk shit. So I’m not mad that daddy bought the baby a Birkin. She going to match mommy.”

In other words, what she and her husband decide to use their money for is no one else’s problem but theirs.
