This Is Why Cardi B Decided to Forgive Offset After He Cheated on Her

Since she came thundering onto the scene with her breakout hit “Bodack Yellow “– Cardi B has been climbing the charts, taking up space and living her absolute best life. While many celebrities shy away from discussing their personal lives, the “Money” rapper isn’t afraid to speak from her heart.

In addition to her stellar music, including her Grammy-Award winning debut albumInvasion of Privacy, the Bronx-born lyricist’s personal life is also often a topic of discussion.

Cardi and Migos rapper Offset have been married since September 2017 and they share a 1-year-old daughter, Kulture who was born July 11, 2018. Unfortunately, their marriage hasn’t been perfect. Offset was unfaithful to his wife, which resulted in a media firestorm and the pair to go their separate ways in December 2018. However, at the top of this year, the rapper patched things up.

Now, Cardi B is getting candid about her marriage and why she decided to forgive Offset.

Cardi B and Offset were secretly married for nearly a year before the public found out

In the fall of 2017 — the entire world watched Offset propose to Cardi B, or so we assumed. However, when Cardi announced her pregnancy in June 2018, it was revealed that she and the Migos rapper had been married since September of 2017.

Confirming the news and calling the public nosey (we are) — Cardi said she decided to keep the marriage private because it was a sacred experience. She explained, “there are moments that I want to keep to myself” and that getting married was “one of those moments.”

Unfortunately, their legal union didn’t stop Offset from being unfaithful to his wife. At the end of 2018, we watched him run across the country trying to win her back. Now we know why Cardi decided to forgive him.

“When me and my husband got into our issues — you know, he cheated and everything — and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” Cardi explained to Vogue. “But it’s real-life shit. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation. Then, if you get back with them, it’s like, how could you? You let all of us down.”

Cardi B and Offset chose to focus on forgiveness

There is never an excuse for cheating. Still, being in the spotlight and having youth, fame, and fortune would be taking on anyone. Cardi and Offset decided that in order to move forward they needed forgiveness.

I believe in forgiveness. I prayed on it,” Cardi revealed. “We had priests come to us. And we just came to an understanding like, bro, it’s really us against the world. He has my back for everything, I have his back for everything, so when you cheat, you’re betraying the person that has your back the most. Why would you do that? We have come to a clear understanding. For me, monogamy is the only way. I’ll beat your ass if you cheat on me.”

We certainly don’t condone violence but we understand what the “Press” rapper is saying.

Communication has helped mend Cardi B and Offset’s relationship

The rappers celebrated two years of marriage this past September and apparently for them — communication is key. “It’s not an easy thing. We both have our own households. But you grow,” Offset said of his marriage. “We’re way better now with communication. She’s balancing a lot. She feels like she can’t be absent a lot, and our jobs are crazy. But I think motherhood got her more focused. I always tell her, don’t follow the comments. But she’s been outspoken on things since before she was making music — she’s not ever putting on, she’s not ever being cool. At the end of the day, she’s still going to rap about the same shit, which is what it’s like being a woman.”

We’re glad these two figured things out.
