Cardi B May Face a Ton of Criticism Surrounding Her Parenting, but Says She’s Still ‘A Great Mom’
Ever since Cardi B first came onto the music scene, people have had negativity things to say about pretty much everything she does.
From the music she drops to the way she talks, people are quick to bash the rapper for every little thing that makes her who she is today. But now that Cardi’s a mother, internet trolls have suggested that her “ratchet” persona keeps her from being a good parent to her 1-year-old daughter Kulture.
While Cardi will always be a “regular, degular, shemgular girl from the Bronx,” she admits that motherhood has changed her for the better and considers herself a pretty amazing mom despite what others might think.
Becoming a mom might have changed her life, but Cardi will always be Cardi
2018 was a monumental year for Cardi B. Not only because her Invasion of Privacy album dominated the music charts and her career was on an upward climb, but mainly due to the fact that that was the year Cardi became a mom.
In July 2018, the “Press” rapper gave birth to her daughter, Kulture, with husband Offset and quickly embraced the mom life.
Though many people didn’t know how the rapper would be as a parent, it soon became evident that nothing in this world meant more to her than her daughter.
Despite many internet trolls assuming right off the bat that Cardi would be a bad parent due to her past, she continues to show that world that the way she acts in public doesn’t define who she is as a mother.
“I could shake my a**, I could be the most ratchet-est person ever, I could get into a fight tomorrow, but I’m still a great mom,” Cardi recently told Vogue for their January 2020 issue. “All the time I’m thinking about my kid. I’m shaking my ass, but at the same time I’m doing business, I’m on the phone with my business manager saying, make sure that a percentage of my check goes to my kid’s trust.”
While mom-shamers continue to call out Cardi for being a “ratchet” mom, she isn’t fazed by what others think of her and continues to do everything she can to make sure Kulture is set for life.
“I give my daughter so much love, and I’m setting her up for a future,” she expressed. “I want to tell her that a lot of the sh*t that I have done in life — no matter what I did, knowing that I wanted to have kids made me go harder to secure a good future for my kids.”
Motherhood is challenging but Cardi’s main focus in life is providing for Kulture
Although Cardi has a lot of help when it comes to raising Kulture, balancing motherhood and her career is still an ongoing struggle.
Aside from performing around the world, the rapper is busy designing another clothing collection for Fashion Nova, filming her Netflix competition show Rhythm + Flow, all while simultaneously recording her second album.
While it may seem as though the “Bodak Yellow” rapper has a lot on her plate at the moment, she’s doing all of this to make she her daughter has a comfortable life later down the line.
“I’m busting my a** right now so you could have a good car when you’re 18, so you can go to school and have an apartment that I could pay for,” she continued. “If my daughter wants to go to college, that’s okay, but I just want her to be an owner of whatever the f*ck she wants to own. Just be an owner. Be the boss.”
Though people will continue to have negative things to say about Cardi B and her parenting skills, she knows that she’s an amazing mom and no one will ever love her daughter as much as she does.
