Cardi B Quits Instagram and Returns Amidst Grammys Drama
Perhaps the thing that fans love the most about the rapper is her honesty. She never pretends to be anything that she is not and she always tells her fans whats really going on.
Cardi’s main source of talking to her
Until Monday, when Cardi suddenly deactivated her account.
Cardi B had one of the best nights at this year’s Grammys. On Sunday, she won her first Grammy and became the first female to ever win the award for best rap album as a solo artist.
But what was supposed to be a happy night soon took a turn when BET tweeted about her historic win with the caption “meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront.”
This tweet was likely in reference to her and Minaj’s ongoing tense relationship and the fact that Minaj, despite being in the rap industry longer than Cardi, has yet to win a Grammy.
Cardi wasn’t too happy about BET’s tweet and posted a video about how she felt.
“It’s not my style for people to put other people down to uplift somebody else,” she said in the now deleted video. “That’s not my type and that’s not what I’m with. I don’t support that.”
She also had something to say to all of the people who didn’t believe that she should have won a Grammy at all.
“I’m seeing a lot of bulls–t today and I saw a lot of s–t last night, and I’m sick of the s–t. I work hard for my motherf—king album.”
She went on to say that she felt like people were never satisfied. She commented on the fact that when she didn’t win a Grammy last year, people said that she got snubbed but now that she has won, people were saying that she didn’t deserve it despite working for three months straight and locking herself in the studio to finish her album even while she was pregnant.
Later, she deactivated her Instagram account altogether.
On Wednesday, Cardi made her return to Instagram with an announcement of a new song.
“So I’m back from retirement to announce I have a brand new song coming out Friday at midnight with @brunomars,” she wrote.
She included the hashtag “two Grammy winning artists” in her post, referencing her Sunday night win.
There is no word on whether Cardi had always planned on eventually returning to the social media site or whether she simply came back to promote her song.
She also used her account to promote her husband’s new song Red Room on Wednesday.
