Carrie Ann Inaba Said the Ballroom Has Never Been Shocked by a ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Winner like This Season

This season of Dancing with the Stars has been a ride for multiple contestants. That’s because of outside factors like Karamo Brown leaving Twitter after defending Sean Spicer. Some celebrities had to drop out of the competition because of injuries.

Those who managed to stick around had a hard time with feedback on their performance. Now a winner has been crowned. Find out what Carrie Ann Inaba had to say about the ballroom’s reaction and more. Warning spoilers for the finale!

The winner of season 28 was announced

This season was full of controversy. That somewhat involved the voting system and which celebrities were making it far in the competition.

In the end, Hannah Brown of The Bachelorette won with her partner, Alan Bersten. Their last performances were the Viennese waltz to “Lover” by Taylor Swift, and a freestyle to “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys, according to People

Lauren Alaina had taken fourth place, Ally Brooke got third place, Kel Mitchell got second place. All of the four finalists will be performing in the Dancing with the Stars – Live Tour 2020.

Hannah Brown talked about Carrie Ann Inaba being tough on her

There is one judge that really kept Brown on her toes during the competition. That would be Inaba.

“Today we met the judge who is going to help us, and it’s Carrie Ann Inaba. Carrie Ann has been pretty tough on me. She’s really hard to please,” she wrote in her diary for Bustle. It didn’t help that Inaba came to their practice at a time they weren’t at their best.

“She kind of came at the wrong time, because I was already really emotional getting done with a cry, and I kind of just broke down on Carrie Ann and explained how I felt about the judges’ critiques,” explained the reality star.

“As I’ve said, I’m totally OK with criticism, and I know a lot of the things they say are right: I don’t use the floor always, I can dance high and need to really finish my hips, my hips are very difficult for me to move, and all of that is all great feedback,” she continued.

Inaba said the ballroom has never been shocked like this

The judge gave her reaction to Brown’s win. She admitted that her money was on someone else to win.

“It’s not what I expected,” she told Us Weekly. “But this whole season has been filled with ups and downs and unexpected twists and turns. I think, always, the right person wins on Dancing With the Stars because it’s a collaborative vote between the judges’ scores and the audience. And what the audience says is very important and we honor it.”

She also talked about the reaction to people in the ballroom. Inaba said, “a lot of people were shocked tonight in the ballroom.”

“I’ve never felt that from the ballroom when a winner was announced like tonight,” she said. “I think Hannah has had a really challenging journey, but I think in the end she rose, and I’m really proud of her.”

Brown posted a picture with the trophy and Bersten on Instagram with the caption, “WE DID IT! thank you all so much!”
