CBS Renews ‘Hawaii Five-0’ for Season 10. Will Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan Be Back?
Hawaii Five-0 fans can rest easy. CBS has renewed the police drama for a 10th season, Deadline reports. The network gave the green light to new seasons of Bull, Madam Secretary, MacGyver, SEAL Team, and SWAT, along with its news programs 48 Hours and 60 Minutes.
While Hawaii Five-0, which is a reboot of the 1970s series of the same name, isn’t CBS’s most-watched drama (that honor goes to NCIS), it’s still a popular show, averaging 10.1 million viewers per episode, so it’s not too suprising that it was picked up for a 10th season.
Will Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan return to the show?
Alex O’Loughlin plays Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett and Scott Caan plays Detective Sergeant Danny “Danno” Williams on the Hawaii-set show. In the past, O’Loughlin has said that he was ready to turn in his badge and quit playing McGarrett, explaining that the physical strain of the role was simply too much.
Fortunately, O’Loughlin appears to have had a change of heart, and as of now, it sounds like both he and Caan will be returning to the show for its next season. Ian Anthony Dale, Meaghan Rath, Beulah Koale, Jorge Garcia, Chi McBride, Taylor Wily, Dennis Chun, and Kimee Balmilero all co-star.
When will Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 premiere?
CBS hasn’t announced a premiere date for Season 10 of Hawaii Five-0. But in the past, the show has kicked off new seasons in late September, so it’s likely it will return to TV screens around that time in 2019.
The Season 9 finale of Hawaii Five-0 will air Friday, May 17 at 10/9c. In that episode, the team continues to hunt down escaped criminal Aaron Wright (Joey Lawrence) in an attempt to stop him before he sells cyber weapons to the highest bidder. Plus, McGarrett and the rest of the team find their lives endangered when a visitor arrives at headquarters to make amends.
What other CBS shows have been renewed?
So far, CBS has renewed 19 shows for the 2019-20 season. In addition to those announced on May 9, the network has ordered more episodes of Young Sheldon, Mom, Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, and Blue Bloods, FBI, God Friended Me, The Neighborhood, and Magnum P.I., all in their first season, have also been renewed.
However, a few shows didn’t make the cut with the network. Elementary, the modern-day take on Sherlock Holmes with Jonny Lee Miller, is ending after seven seasons. The Big Bang Theory, and Salvation have also been canceled. In addition, CBS has revealed that the upcoming 15th season of Criminal Minds will be the last for the serial killer profiler drama.
A handful of shows at the network are still in limbo, including The Code, Murphy Brown, Happy Together, Fam, Man with a Plan, and Life in Pieces.
