A Prince Is Born: Celebrities Congratulate Kate Middleton and Prince William on New Royal Baby
On April 23rd, 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a son, the latest member of the British royal family. This is Kate Middleton and Prince William’s third child together, and the child is, therefore, the fifth in line for the throne after Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.
Immediately after news of the baby’s birth was announced, celebrities took to social media to offer their congratulations, including everyone from British politicians to comedians and talk show hosts. Here’s a look at some of the celebrities who have congratulated Kate Middleton and Prince William on the birth of their newborn son.
1. Theresa May
Naturally, British Prime Minister Theresa May sent her congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well.
In a tweet posted soon after the announcement, May sent the happy couple her warmest congratulations. She also wished them all of the happiness in the future.

2. Elizabeth Banks
On the other side of the pond, Hollywood celebrities also weighed in on the royal baby announcement and offered their congratulations to the Duke and Duchess.
One of those celebrities was Elizabeth Banks, who said that she loves royal babies and that she gives her congratulations to all, but mostly the parents and the siblings.

3. Ellen DeGeneres
As is her style, comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres both offered a sincere congratulations to the Duke and Duchess, as well as a hilarious joke.
On Twitter, DeGeneres noted that the newborn baby is now fifth in line for both the throne and for Season 43 of The Crown. “Congratulations to all!” she added.
Netflix itself actually made a similar joke, posting on one of their official Twitter accounts, “A third
#RoyalBaby? Season 70 of The Crown is going to be incredible.”

4. Liam Payne
One Direction’s Liam Payne sent out a tweet to his 33 million followers wishing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge well.
Payne wrote, “Congratulations to her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge Kate and the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William on the birth of their baby boy!”

Another British politician who sent his congratulations was Boris Johnson, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, issued a sincere congratulations to the Duke and Duchess. The Archbishop on Twitter wrote, “May God bless them and all of their children with love, happiness and health.”
In addition, the official Twitter account of the Church of England sent a tweet about the baby as well, posting a picture of a prayer for the child’s happiness and wellbeing.

One of the most popular shows in the United Kingdom, Coronation Street, weighed in on the royal baby news.
The show’s official account tweeted, “Congratulations from everyone at Coronation Street to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby boy!” They also jokingly recommended the name Kenneth after the character Ken Barlow from the series.
