Celebrities Who Still Get Starstruck

You would think that celebrities would be immune to each other’s fame. After all, they have people obsessing over them all the time and are constantly surrounded by fellow famous individuals. However, celebrities are people, too, and they’re bound to fall victim of becoming starstruck by their idols.

Despite their own fame, these 15 celebrities totally lost their cool when meeting their favorite stars.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

From Damien Lewis to Jeff Bridges to Jack Nicholson, Jennifer Lawrence truly cannot keep it together when meeting her favorite celebrities. One celebrity in particular actually dished about Lawrence freaking out when they met: Kim Kardashian.

Kardashian told The Sun, “I was in NYC and I ran into Jennifer Lawrence. We said, ‘Hi’ and walked into the elevator and just as the doors were closing she screamed across the lobby, ‘I love your show!’”

To be honest, we wouldn’t expect anything less from their meeting.

2. Emma Stone

One thing Emma Stone has in common with Lawrence is their inability to hide their emotions when obsessing over fellow celebrities. Stone apparently grew up a bigger Spice Girls fan than we realized, and when Mel B addressed her directly, she broke down in tears.

The interaction went down during an interview while Stone was promoting The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The two didn’t even meet in person — it was a video of Mel B exclaiming, “Hi Emma!,” to which Stone replied, “Oh my god, is Mel B talking to me? Oh my god, I’m so excited. I’m legitimately crying. I’m the biggest Spice Girls fan ever.”

Mel B requested that Stone sing her favorite Spice Girls song, which Stone was able to accomplish through her tears.

Even though it seems like everyone on the planet is obsessed with Beyoncé, Anna Kendrick might actually be the biggest fan of all. While appearing on Conan, Kendrick confessed that she just couldn’t deal with meeting Queen Bey. She said, “I walked past Beyoncé at one point and, because I’m not worthy, I didn’t look at her.”

Well, Kendrick ended up working up the courage to approach her idol, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. She confessed to Beyoncé, “I’m so sorry to do this, I just wanted to meet you. You’re such an inspiration.” She continued that “[Beyoncé] stood up — she was so nice — and she points to Jay-Z and was like, ‘Oh, we just watched you on the Kennedy Center Honors. You were so great. You were so cute in your little red dress.’”

We’re surprised Kendrick didn’t collapse right then and there, but she did take to Instagram and Twitter to share her experience. She tweeted, “Guys, it happened. I met Beyonce. And she is an angel. And I am not worthy. And I will never stop shaking. #PatheticFanGirlOfTheYear.”

4. Mark Ruffalo

When Mark Ruffalo found himself walking behind Paul Rudd, he reacted the way any of us would. While Rudd was being interviewed at Comic-Con 2014 to promote Ant-Man, Ruffalo can be seen freaking out behind the star.

His eyes widen when he realizes who he’s standing behind, and he mouths, “Is that Paul Rudd? Is that Paul Rudd?”

When Ariana Grande met her “lifelong crush,” Jim Carrey, she actually broke down in tears — and has the Instagram video to prove it. During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael in 2015, Grande explained just how she feels about Carey.

When Michael Strahan asked Grande who her childhood crush is, she gushed:

My childhood crush, my lifelong crush, it kind of all goes together. It’s Jim Carrey. I met him, and like, cried. It was really weird. It was so weird. It was so uncharacteristic of me. I’m usually sort of chill. I’m usually somewhat contained but I met him and … I was kind of nervous to meet him, you know, he’s been my crush forever. What if he’s not as nice as I’m expecting? He was so over-the-top nice, and perfect, and just as I hoped he’d be. He told me in his Jim Carrey way, “Remember, be nice.” OMG, he’s so cute.

6. Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway may have stayed calmer than any of us could in the presence of Mariah Carey, but that doesn’t mean she kept her cool — at all. While being interviewed on the red carpet for the NYC premiere of The Intern in 2015, Hathaway realized Carey was right behind her.

“I’m freaking out. Like, she’s two arms’ lengths away right now,” she said to the reporter. She was so flustered that she couldn’t even keep her sentences together: “It’s just the best glamorous ever. That’s not even a sentence, ‘it’s just the best glamorous ever.’ I went to college. I didn’t graduate!”

When the reporter proposed that Hathaway greet Carey, Hathaway rejected the suggestion the way you would rejecting approaching your crush: “No, no, no, it’s fine, it’s fine. I’m gonna meet her when the time is right.”

7. Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum is living proof that no matter how attractive you are, you can’t keep your composure all the time. In preparation for meeting Olympic gymnast Simone Biles on Ellen, Tatum admitted, “I’m gonna freak out. I’m gonna freak out more [than her], I bet.”

He and his wife, Jenna Dewan Tatum, are such big fans of Biles after watching all of her Olympic competitions, that he’s even created theories about her athletic abilities.

“I have a theory though, my theory is that she’s so tiny, she has a harder time holding on to the ground than just going up,” he said. “I think she’s got really strong toes and that helps her hold on to the ground … to keep herself from flying away.”

8. Emma Watson

Emma Watson seems to have all the confidence in the world. As the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and the leader of the HeForShe campaign, we’ve seen her deliver powerful messages that leave us speechless.

Somehow, there’s still one person in the world who leaves her speechless: Céline Dion. When appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Watson described the moment she fangirled over her favorite singer at the Beauty and the Beast film premiere:

Céline Dion arrives and I’m like, holding my publicist like, “This is almost too much for me!” You have to understand, my parents do not really understand, like, celebrities or Hollywood or whatever else, but my mom and I used to play Céline Dion in the car, like, nonstop. Being able to tell [my mother] that I met her I was like, “She’s gonna lose it. She’s gonna know who Céline Dion is.”

Next: She obsessed over this musician, despite her family’s musical talent.

9. Paris Jackson

Paris Jackson was famous the moment she was born, growing up surrounded by celebrities, including the likes of her father, Michael Jackson. However, that didn’t stop her from obsessing over her favorite musician, Alice Cooper.

She admitted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, “I was like, ‘I love you so much. I’ve always listened to you. I grew up loving you.’ I was close to tears. I started watering up, like, ‘Oh, my gosh!’ I’m crying thinking about it. He’s amazing.”

Next: He was starstruck by two actresses in one night.

10. Eddie Redmayne

At the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Eddie Redmayne wasn’t just starstruck by one iconic actress, but two: Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston. He described the experience as him being “a kid in a candy store,” with an overwhelming amount of talent sharing one room.

Redmayne admitted to watching Pretty Woman “at an inappropriate age,” which was one of his dad’s favorite movies. It’s safe to say Redmayne was in shock when Roberts was the one to hand him his SAG Award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role. He said of the experience, “Suddenly there I was sort of hugging Julia Roberts, and I was meant to be articulate, and all I could think was, ‘I want to tell my dad!’”

Redmayne just couldn’t keep it together that night — especially once he encountered Aniston. Apparently he and his wife, Hannah Bagshawe, are devoted Friends fans, so when he spotted Rachel Green in real life, he “just literally stalked about four meters behind her for the entire evening.”

Next: She accidentally called Aniston “Rachel” to her face.

11. Adele

Maybe Adele should join Redmayne in an official Aniston fanclub, considering she got so starstruck when running into Aniston that she accidentally addressed her by her Friends name. While on The Graham Norton Show in 2014, Adele detailed her embarrassing moment.

“I went for a wee with Jennifer Aniston in New York,” she said, “And then, through the cubicle, she was like, ‘How are you, honey?’ And I just called her Rachel! I was like, ‘Fine, thank you, Rachel!’”

Next: She gives credit where credit is due … through fangirling.

12. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift may be ruling the world of music, but she knows how to properly fangirl over those who have paved the path for her. After sharing the stage with Madonna for a performance at the 2015 iHeartRadio music awards, she couldn’t hide her admiration.

Swift posted an Instagram photo of their collab, with the caption, “I might be okay, but I’m NOT FINE AT ALL. #MyFangirlLife #MadonnaAndTaylor.”

Next: We were surprised to see him starstruck by his fellow Marvel actor.

13. Chris Hemsworth

We never thought we’d see the day where Star-Lord makes Thor nervous. Chris Hemsworth, who plays the title role in Thor, admitted to being starstruck by Chris Pratt on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Hemsworth revealed to Elle, “The first time I really met Chris Pratt — and went on set with him and the Guardians — I was weirdly shaken. I don’t know why. He’s just so charismatic. And good at what he does.”

14. Jennifer Garner

As one of the most well-known faces in Hollywood, you’d think Jennifer Garner could keep her cool in front of anyone. For the 45-year-old, it isn’t other actors who make her nervous — it’s those who have a totally different skill.

“I am starstruck by children’s book authors, big time,” she told ET’s Cameron Mathison. “I met Marla Frazee and was just, didn’t even know what to say to her. I am starstruck by ballerinas, big time. I am starstruck … I heard this woman play the saxophone the other day, she was so amazing. I couldn’t look at her after. Just anyone who can do something that you can’t do.”

Next: Even the Mother of Dragons fangirls from time to time.

15. Emilia Clarke

On Game Of Thrones, we don’t exactly picture the Mother of Dragons fangirling over, well, anyone. But in real life, Emilia Clarke is part of the Friends fanclub, and we are here for it. When Clarke bumped into Matt LeBlanc while promoting Me Before You on The Graham Norton Show, she couldn’t resist getting a picture with the man synonymous with his Friends character, Joey.

Like any of us would do, she posted the photo to Instagram, writing, “How YOU doin??! Downright GIDDY now!! Bucket list accomplishment already underway with this gem (both in Joey and Matt form) (@mebeforeyouofficial tour you made a 90’s girl oh so happy. #butmattseriosulyillbethereforyouuuuh #dontupposeanyoneknowswherejaniswent? #noshameinthefriendsgameinstaworld.”
