Well, pop the corn and feed the children. Even though the next season of RuPaul’s Drag Race has yet to be announced, RuPaul and Logo TV announced an extension of the Drag Race series — RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. From Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams to the host of The Graham Norton show, here are a few of the celebrities featured on the judge’s panel.
Graham Norton joins the judge
‘s panel for ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’
What’s RuPaul’s Drag Race without RuPaul? Thankfully, RuPaul and Michelle Visage will continue their roles on the judge’s panel. However, longtime Drag Race judges Carson Kressley and Ross Matthews will not be judges in the United Kingdom edition of the series. Instead, Graham Norton, host of The Graham Norton show, will appear as a weekly judge.
English comedian and television personality, Alan Carr, will join Graham Norton on the judge’s panel. Additionally, each week will feature a different celebrity guest judge.
‘Game of Thrones’ actress Maisie Williams
Known for her portrayal of Arya Stark in HBO’s award-winning series Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams will be a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. In an interview with Logo, the actress discussed her upcoming trip to the Drag Race mainstage.
“What I love the most about drag is the story of the drag queen behind the facade,” Williams said. “I think that so much of drag comes from a place of real pain and seeing how that transforms into a character is so interesting to me. I love that about art and about drag.”
‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ actor Andrew Garfield
Andrew Garfield often expresses his love for Drag Race and its contestants; he even lip-synced to Whitney Houston’s “I’m Every Woman.” This self-proclaimed Drag Race aficionado will be a celebrity judge on this version of the television series.
“The creativity is always totally outside the box and it’s one of the many reasons I watch and love this show,” Andrew Garfield said, according to Deadline.
Spice Girl, Geri Horner
Geri Horner has always been a supporter of the LGBTQ community, even performing at London’s G-A-Y Club. This Spice Girl will take her talents to the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK judge’s panel.
“I just love how drag encourages people to be exactly who they are,” said the Spice Girls singer in a statement. “This show has brought so much joy and pride to people all over the world, I can’t wait for everyone to see the amazing queens representing the U.K. in this first-ever series.”
Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall
Little Mix won the Brit Award for “Best British Music Video” and “Best British Single.” The group featured drag queens in their music video for “Bounce Back.” Additionally, they included the “Triple A Girls,” consisting of Alaska 5000, Courtney Act, and Willam, in their video for “Power.” Now, Little Mix’s member, Jade Thirlwall, is stepping into the world of Drag Race. The singer will be a judge for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
RuPaul has not announced other guest judges of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. According to Digital Spy, the series premieres later in 2019.
